‘Constantine’ Season 2 Rumored to Take Over the Time Slot of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Once The CW Gives it the Green Light!

There have been reports a few weeks ago saying that The CW has revived the American supernatural drama TV series “Constantine” and plans to air its Season 2 on the network soon.

According to the latest rumors, the second season of “Constantine” would take over the time slot to be vacated by “The Vampire Diaries” which is due to air its eighth and final season on the network this month.

With that being said, it seems clear that “Constantine,” the TV series, would not be happening this year but most likely next year since “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 would be ending in the spring of next year as it only has 16 episodes.

According to critics, there is indeed a potential for The CW to adopt “Constantine” because the sister webcast called CW Seed, has already aired a few months ago the full Season 1 of the popular TV series, reports Yibada.

Competition in the time slot

But there is a possible technical obstacle for “Constantine” Season 2 on The CW. Reports have it that the American fictional comedy-drama TV series “iZombie” is also eyeing the time slot to be vacated by “The Vampire Diaries.”

However, fans are confidently hopeful that The CW would be able to flesh everything out before or after “The Vampire Diaries” makes its final bow on the network.

According to latest reports, a number of fans are already getting excited about seeing John Constantine again on the small screen after his short-lived stint on NBC last year.

Since its first episode that aired in October 2014, fans have followed Constantine’s journey throughout the entire season.

John Constantine is a known demon hunter and an occult detective in the DC Comics universe. Back when it was still airing its Season 1 on NBC, John Constantine was seen fighting off supernatural enemies who threatened the world due to the ‘Rising Darkness’ while trying to save innocent people, details the Morning Ledger.

But The CW has yet to make an official announcement or statement regarding its supposed move to revive “Constantine” for a second season.

‘Constantine’ Season 1 on DVD

Meanwhile, Warner Bros has released the complete Season 1 of the American supernatural drama TV series “Constantine” on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 4. The announcement has triggered speculations that it is possible that Season 2 of the TV series could be next in line.

Critics believe that releasing all the 13 episodes of Season 1 of “Constantine” on both DVD and Blu-Ray will just add to the number of disappointed fans since the TV series ended in a major cliffhanger during the Season 1 finale episode.

It can be recalled that NBC canceled “Constantine” after its Season 1 finale last year. Showrunner Daniel Cerone has practically moved heaven and earth and offered the show to other networks and streaming services just to give the TV series a fitting closure but there were no takers.

After Constantine’s Season 1 finale, fans received bad news that NBC canceled plans for Constantine Season 2 due to poor ratings.

As fans would recall, while trying to save people, Constantine tried to atone for his sins and redeem his soul from eternal punishment.

In terms of ratings when it was still airing on NBC, the show started with over four million viewers during its debut episode and dwindled to a mere 2.9 million at the start of episode 13, the Season 1 finale episode.

While 2.9 million is a relatively good viewership number, but when compared to the other supernatural TV series across all US networks, the figure is among the smallest in the list.
