“Constantine” enjoyed moderate popularity, and while it wasn’t the best rated production on the screen, it certainly managed to attract its own crowd of dedicated followers and got good reviews overall. Which is why the news of its cancellation weren’t taken very well by most, and fans of the production have been hopeful that it would be revived, even if not on its original network.
There have been some rumors that we would see the show returning on The CW, and while discussions about this claim were getting more and more active around the Internet, it hasn’t been confirmed yet and remains just a rumor. The president of the network himself, Mark Pedowitz, stated that there is no truth behind these claims at the moment, at least not on the official front.
He said that this is just a rumor, but didn’t outright deny the possibility that it’s happening, which still gave hope to some fans of the show. In the end though, Pedowitz spoke in a borderline joking manner about the possibility, saying that there are also rumors that he would be playing for the NBA – implying that he sees the rumors about “Constantine” as quite ridiculous and hard to believe.
Daniel Cerone, executive producer for the show, also talked about the situation himself briefly, expressing disappointment at the fact that the show isn’t going to get picked up by the network, at least from the looks of things for the time being. He seems convinced that “Constantine” would make a great addition to their current lineup, as the network has done a great job expanding the universe of DC Comics and bringing even more interesting, rich experiences to it.
And most fans seem to agree with him, for what it’s worth – there is a strong sentiment going around that “Constantine” could have a very strong potential if it’s picked up by The CW, but of course that doesn’t just depend on the show’s producers. Whatever the current state of the talks behind the scenes is, hopefully any issues are going to get resolved in the end.
If it doesn’t get picked up by The CW for a potential renewal, this doesn’t necessarily have to be the end of “Constantine”, as there’s still the possibility that another network might show interest in the production. Someone could potentially take this show and make it into a true winner for its second season, but we’re not sure which network would take that challenge for the time being.
