‘Constantine’ Season 2 May Happen After Matt Ryan’s Stint in Legends of Tomorrow

Daniel Cerone, the executive producer of the American supernatural drama TV series “Constantine” previously on NBC, recently quashed the speculations saying that the show would possibly be revived for Season 2 by The CW network.

The rumors about the possible revival of “Constantine” for Season 2 on The CW began when the web channel of the network, called The CW Seed, started streaming Season 1 of the TV series starring Matt Ryan as John Constantine, the Hellblazer.

Fans and critics believe that The CW Seed would not be streaming the Season 1 of “Constantine” if there was no plan to continue it since the TV series actually ended on a major cliffhanger.

Streaming the Season 1 of “Constantine” would also make the viewers in The CW Seed disappointed as much as the viewers of the TV series were when NBC pulled the plug on the show after its premiere season because it left a major cliffhanger. It would be twice the disappointment if there is no continuity in the near future.

It seems like there is something in the works at the moment but The CW network does not want to spill the beans this early.

The latest reports have confirmed that Matt Ryan shall once again appear in at least an episode of the American superhero ensemble drama TV series “Legends of Tomorrow” for its Season 2 on The CW, the same way he did for an episode of “Arrow” Season 4 last year also on the same network.

There are also speculations saying that because of the good ratings that his guesting on “Arrow” Season 4 generated last year, Matt Ryan as John Constantine may actually be cast in a recurring role for “Legends of Tomorrow.”

However, all these remain as speculations pending the confirmation from the executive producers of “Legends of Tomorrow” or officials from The CW.

No talks of revival

NBC canceled “Constantine” in February last year even with a major Season 1 cliffhanger, reportedly because of negative ratings.

Cerone confirmed as of end-July that there are still no talks going on with the producers and network executives of The CW for the rumored revival of “Constantine” for Season 2, reports the Christian Times.

He, however, hinted that it is very likely that The CW was simply priming Matt Ryan to once again reprise his role as John Constantine in at least one of the superhero TV series that shall be airing on the network.

As it is, there are four superhero TV shows that shall be airing on The CW beginning this fall including the Season 5 of “Arrow,” Season 3 of “The Flash,” Season 2 of “Supergirl” after airing its Season 1 in CBS, and Season 2 of “Legends of Tomorrow.”

Interestingly, all four superhero TV shows are based on DC Comics. “Constantine” is also a TV series based on DC Comics so the rumors about the show’s revival for Season 2 on The CW actually have good legs to stand on.

One in three possibilities

After guesting as John Constantine on episode 5 of Season 4 of “Arrow” in November last year, Matt Ryan somehow helped the TV series earned its highest rating during its first half.

That stint certainly excited The CW network officials that reports now indicate that it is possible the Matt Ryan as the Hellblazer shall once again be guesting or making a cameo appearance in at least one of the other superhero TV series on the network, other than “Arrow.”

So it is possible that John Constantine could show up once again either in “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” or “Supergirl.”

But it is now clear that he will come out in “Legends of Tomorrow,” and it remains to be seen if he will be doing the same in “The Flash” or “Supergirl.”

It can be recalled that even before “Legends of Tomorrow” had its Season 1 premiere on The CW early this year, there were already reports stating that the second season of the TV series shall already include John Constantine as one of the so-called superhero legends of the show.
