Sharing British humor and the Broadway stage
Meanwhile, Matt Ryan will be sharing his British humor and the Broadway stage with actress Keira Knightley of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” fame, along with Judith Light and Gabriel Ebert.
They will star in the Broadway stage adaptation of Emile Zola’s darkly tragic tale titled “Therese Raquin.”
The novel will be adapted on the Broadway stage by Helen Edmundson and shall focus on the story of the young Therese, played by Keira Knightley, as she is thrown into a loveless marriage in a gloomy new home in Paris. She eventually found herself in a perilous affair with Laurent, played by Matt Ryan, who is his husband’s friend, details Theater Mania.
Therese and Laurent must unite to bring some of the most shocking moments in a play which Knightley hints as something that happens when human beings behave like animals.
Fortunately for the lovers, they have a three-foot-deep onstage river, a common homeland, and a shared sense of humor to tide them and their love through.
Matt Ryan is not new to the Broadway stage. He was a stage actor prior to being tapped to play the role of John Constantine in his own TV series on NBC. So when he returned to the stage for “Therese Raquin,” he felt a little different. He said that one thing great about show business is when one door closes, another door opens.
