Executive producer David Goyer has previously said that “Constantine” was on the wrong network and it is the reason why it was not able to generate good ratings the way the other TV shows based on DC Comics are doing in The CW or Fox or CBS.
Critics believe that if indeed DC Comics is determined to revive Season 2 of “Constantine” on The CW in an all-out effort to put as many pieces on the board for the DC Extended Universe, then it is making the right decision to bring it to The CW.
It has been 14 months since “Constantine” was canceled by NBC for its second season just weeks after its Season 1 finale.
One of the show’s executive producers Daniel Cerone strongly lobbied with the network to reconsider its decision but NBC was firm with its plan back then to unload TV series based on comic books. That’s in addition to the fact that the show was not enjoying very significant ratings the way it was hyped before its Season 1 was officially aired on the small screen.
Cerone then decided to offer “Constantine” Season 2 to be rescued from cancellation to other networks and also streaming service. Unfortunately, there were no takers to his offer then. In fact, he even threw in veteran actor William Shatner of the “Star Trek” fame to be included in the second season of “Constantine” just to sweeten the deal.
