The popularity of “Clash of Clans” is built on top of several factors, and it’s not just about the quality of the base game itself – although that certainly contributes. The developers of the title, Supercell, keep releasing various updates that add even more features and polish existing ones, ensuring that their players remain interested in the game and are always waiting for the next major patch release.
And now, Supercell have just revealed some information about the upcoming next major update to the game, announcing what players can expect to see and how the update is going to change the landscape of the game as a whole. Players have been quite pleased with the development pace in general, as this is the second major update in a few months, and the last one was actually announced as the biggest update the game has seen in more than one year.
A feature that players have been requesting for a long time now is the ability to resolve Clan Wars that end up with an equal score on both sides. Ties are never fun for any player in the battle when they’ve invested some of their own resources into the fight, and it’s obvious that the game needs some special changes in order to accommodate to those situations.
Now, there will be a new event that will determine who is victorious in case there’s a tie, along with other smaller balance changes that should help make battles even more meaningful and give some sense of success to players who manage to score well in a given fight.
Certain spells are getting updates too, and the Town Hall itself is now going to go up to level 11, with the possibility of a brand new hero appearing in the game as well. Players have been particularly interested in the new Lightning Spell level, which is supposedly going to add even more strategy to this spell and make it more useful in certain situations, removing its niche status that some players associated it with before.
On the other hand, battles will be a bit more intuitive now that players have the option to get a more clear overview of their situation and see their army in a more organized way. Players will now be able to see a full overview of all of their troops and assets, and will also have detailed information about their various spells right at their fingertips.
This is probably in response to a common demand that the community has been repeating over and over again, namely a more organized and intuitive interface for battles. It’s true that the game has been in need of a revision in this area for quite some time now, and it’s good to see that Supercell are putting a lot of effort into rethinking the game’s interface even after it’s been on the market for such a long time already.
Lightning isn’t the only spell that’s going to get improved with this update, as other spells will also receive various changes that will make them more adequate in certain situations. Freeze in particular should work quite well compared to its old counterpart, and there are even rumors of more major high-level changes to the spell system that will reportedly make the game much more complex and give players more opportunities for exploring different strategies, as well as combining spells to their advantage.
