‘Clash of Clans’ Developer Gradually Acting on Player-Recommended Changes Given the Strong Competition from Pokemon Go

There used to be a time when the freemium mobile strategy game “Clash of Clans” was the foremost video game among mobile device users anywhere in the world.

However, over time, because of some less than satisfactory updates and some really terrible ones, “Clash of Clans” has started losing avid gamers.

It also did not help that Niantic launched “Pokemon Go,” which practically caught the mobile gaming world by storm and is now arguably the most played video game on mobile devices in the world.

Finnish game developer Supercell has previously said that after its May updates were met with negative feedbacks from gamers, it has said that it will just work on updates that are recommended by gamers. The game developer has learned its lesson that it need not be strict on its game because gamers would surely turn away from it.

While most of its past updates were focused on addressing bugs and game-related glitches, the gameplay features that it is forcing to gamers every now and then is what is causing revulsion from some players.

As a matter of fact, Supercell is now doubling its efforts not only to satisfy the fans and gamers of “Clash of Clans” but also to cleanse its image from the fallout of the May updates.

In a unique and obviously very savvy marketing move, Supercell has decided to take inputs for its flagship mobile game directly from fans and gamers.

The Finnish game developer is now hosting surveys to enable fans to send their ideas, feedbacks, and opinions on what features or improvements are needed to make the game more satisfying to play than ever before.

Supercell has opened itself for suggestions from the public and these ideas or complaints are going to be addressed by the company’s tech guys for “Clash of Clans” at the back end in a slow but steady manner.

In fact, reports now have it that Supercell may take its next biggest feature and updates based on the game’s social media feedback inputs.

Thus far, fans have been clamoring for more achievements, arranged wars without the planning along with a sleep mode for Clan Castles.

Leveling the playing field

What the gamers actually want from Supercell to allow them to really enjoy the game is a level playing field among veteran players and newbies.

Based on the gameplay design of “Clash of Clans,” the newbies are always no match against veteran players during clan wars.

So it’s like veteran players going up against fellow veteran players while newbies will have to look for newbies too to be able to have the opportunity to win in clan wars. It has actually limited the potentials of the game that there are now calls to have a level playing field in cases where the old battles the new in clan wars.

The current “Clash of Clans” set-up tends to be a dead end for players with weak bases because no matter how skilled their troops are, if their base is weak, there is always the higher chance of losing the war, notes Game & Guide.

In order to address the weakness of the base issue, some players are suggesting and hoping that Supercell can find a way to adjust the game settings for “Clash of Clans” by making the clan wars fair through a possible level-mode setting where two clans who are fighting can have a temporary same-level status.

Under the scheme, the player with the weaker base or the one with the stronger base can have a temporary level compromise and forget about their bases and focus on proper strategies for their respective clans.
