‘Civil War’ is No ‘Iron Man 4,’ Says Robert Downey Jr

Fans the world over have been waiting for developments on “Iron Man 4.” With the blockbuster success of “Iron Man 3” shown in 2013, it was almost certain that a fourth installment to the most successful comic-book adaptation would follow suit.

In fact, “Iron Man 3” was such a blockbuster success that it actually pushed Robert Downey Jr. into becoming the world’s highest paid actor in the Forbes list with earnings of as much as $75 million from July 2013 to June 2014.

About $50 million of those earnings came from his stint as Iron Man in “Iron Man 3” which grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide and put the movie in the third spot of the all-time list of top-grossing movies.

Of late, there have been reports stating that Downey will no longer be part of the “Iron Man 4” movie and that 13-year-old Ty Simpkins, who played Harley Skeener in “Iron Man 3” shall take over from Robert Downer Jr.

Giving credit where it should be

In a recent interview with a magazine, Robert Downey Jr. explained that “Civil War” is not going to be the fourth Iron Man movie.

The actor said that ultimately, “Civil War” is not going to be about “Iron Man 4” He added that it is Steve Rogers’ story because had it been Tony Stark’s and Iron Man’s movie, the title of the film should already be “Iron Man 4: Civil War,” details Kpop Starz.

Downey also explained that Chris Evans has been looking forward to bringing even more of an underside to his character as well as some shadow to the upcoming film officially titled “Captain America: Civil War.”

The actor added that in the comics, Captain America is baseball and apple pie and anything that American stood for. In the upcoming third film, Captain America is a superhero that is out of time and he has already made peace with it too.

New Iron Man

As early as late last year, there have already been reports that Marvel is looking for a younger actor who shall have an important role in assuming the legacy of Tony Stark, which is no other than Iron Man himself.

Speculations also have it that 13-year-old actor Ty Simpkins, who played Harley Skeener in “Iron Man 3,” will be the next cast member who shall don the “Iron Man” suit.

Previous reports cited that the young actor shall take the place of Tony Stark in “Iron Man 4” which was rather absurd as it will disturb the plotline. The time element of the movie would simply not make sense at all.

Contrary to previous notions, it is possible that Harley Skeener would don the suit of Iron Man after Tony Stark. Now, there’s a good “Iron Man 4” plot to build on. Harley will then just continue Stark’s legacy as Iron Man.

Actually, even Ty Simpkins, during an interview in December, sort of explained such scenario when he said that should things really worked out, he would not be playing the exact same role of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark but someone who is close to the role.
