Chris Evans Confirms Participation as ‘Captain America’ to Salt Lake City ComicCon on September 26

Salt Lake ComicCon organizers confirmed on Facebook on July 18 that “Captain America” actor Chris Evans is indeed coming to Utah on September 26. The comics convention at Salt Lake will take place from September 24 to 26, but the popular hunk actor is set to appear only on the final day.

According to the organizers’ Facebook post, fans need to place RSVP reservation since tickets are limited for the event but are currently on sale already. Also, they need to stay tuned to know the full schedule of the convention.

The actor is popular for his portrayal of the 2011 movie “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” shown last year. For the latter, he won the 41st People’s Choice Award for Favorite Action Movie Actor.

However, he made cameos in two recent films, “Ant-Man” and “Thor: The Dark World,” according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Previously, Chris Evans played for other notable movies like “Fantastic Four” in 2005 and 2007, “Snowpiercer” in 2013, “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” in 2010, “Sunshine” in 2007, “The Perfect Score” in 2004 and “Not Another Teen Movie” in 2001.

Although, he already played for two “Captain America” films, he was slated again to appear as the Marvel’s red-white-and-blue superhero for the 2016 sequel “Captain America: Civil War.”

According to Cinema Blend, the third installment of “Captain America” was set to come to the big screen on May 6, 2016. Since there is only less than a year before the film is officially released to worldwide theaters, leaks, teasers and updates are starting to circulate on the internet.

On June 5, an alleged teaser trailer of the latest “Captain America: Civil War” was uploaded by ComicCon Trailers and a debate sparked among netizens whether the video was fake or real. According to International Business Times, the captured recording was originally posted by The Real Stan Lee and was supposedly from ComicCon India.

Nevertheless, it seems too early for Marvel Studios to have a real teaser as of this time as the filming of the movie is still ongoing, according to Movie Pilot. Therefore, the teaser in the footage is more likely fan-made.

However, real behind-the-scene images with interesting captions were posted on Twitter by Blaxican Food, Cap: Civil War, and even “Iron Man” star Robert Downey, Jr. It appears that the shooting is currently happening in Atlanta and the cast took a snack break to eat at the Blaxican Food’s truck on July 15.

In Blaxican Food’s tweet, a picture showing the “Iron Man” actor with complete makeup effects of a black eye, several scratches and bruises was posted. Downey Jr. explained on July 18, where he got the scrapes. He joked in his tweet that he is fighting to get to the front of the line.

“Captain America” followers can only guess whether the bruises actually came from a fight scene between Iron Man and Captain America since a fan, under the name of Cap: Civil War, tweeted last July 16, a picture of  an unhurt Chris Evans.

A real trailer may arrive soon as the filming already started last April. Rumors are even suggesting that a mini teaser might be revealed during “Captain America” actor’s visit at the 2015 Salt Lake ComicCon.

Chris Evans

The recent chat of Evans with MTV revealed that the “Civil War” is a jump-off to two-part “The Avengers: The Infinity War,” which will be reportedly released around 2018 or 2019. Therefore, it appears that the third installment of the “Captain America” is just a preparation for the actual battle that will happen in “The Avengers: The Infinity War.” Evans further noted that fans can expect several Marvel superheroes to appear in “Captain America: Civil War,” including Spider-Man, who will make the film his springboard for his official entry to the Marvel cinematic universe.
