‘Chicago PD’ Season 4 to Feature a Tour De Force Episode for Desk Sergeant Trudy Platt!

Every fan of the American police procedural drama TV series “Chicago PD” on NBC knows that the show is focused mostly on Chicago PD Intelligence Unit Sergeant Hank Voight, played by Jason Beghe, and the police officers under his turf.

There is also the romantic pairing of Jay Halstead, played by Jesse Lee Soffer, and Erin Lindsay, played by Sophia Bush, who got reunited in Season 3 and whose relationship appears headed toward the level of serious.

Season 3 also focused on the blossoming and sudden end of romance between Sean Roman, played by Brian Geraghty, and Kim Burgess, played by Marina Squerciati.

Kim was previously engaged to Adam Ruzek, played by Patrick John Flueger, but she decided to call off the engagement upon learning that Ruzek had no plans of marrying her.

Subsequently, she fell for Sean Roman. However, Roman decided to leave “Chicago PD” during the Season 3 finale to concentrate on his full recovery after he was seriously wounded during a shooting which took place in episode 21.

He was given the option to transfer to a less active duty or to quit the force. Roman decided to leave the team instead and just asked his partner and love interest Kim Burgess to join him in San Diego. Despite her special feelings for him, Burgess chose to stay with the Chicago PD.

In real life, Brian Geraghty is also a producer of “Chicago PD.” During the middle of Season 3, he told the showrunners and writers that he wanted to focus on other projects and needed to get out of the show.

That is when the showrunner crafted for him a story arc which allowed his character to exit the series in a dignified manner. They could have opted to kill off his character but the fact that Sean Roman simply moved to another place also opens the door for him for his possible return to the show either as a guest or a series regular once again.

Surprise focus of the show

However, latest reports have it that Chicago PD District 21 Desk Sergeant Trudy Platt, played by Amy Morton, would be thrust into the limelight in one episode of Season 4 of “Chicago PD,” which would start airing on NBC on September 21.

The producers have not revealed which episode it is going to happen but it would be early in Season 4 of “Chicago PD,” reports Cartermatt.

Platt had her wedding last season and she will have a major story arc in the upcoming fourth season of “Chicago PD.” According to initial information, the episode will see Platt taking the spotlight when someone jumps and attacks her. She would eventually be beaten and left only with an inch of her life.

This was confirmed by “Chicago PD” executive producer Matt Olmstead, who also said that it would be a real tour de force episode for Amy Morton, details the International Business Times.

The reports are also saying that it would be very difficult for Platt to find the people responsible for her beating and bring them to justice amid the fact that she is surrounded by people who are good at bringing criminals to justice.

New partner for Burgess

The latest reports are also saying that Kim Burgess would have a new partner in Julie Tay, and unlike before where she had a romantic relationship with her partner Roman, her new romance would be courtesy of Antonio Dawson from the spinoff TV series “Chicago Fire.”

There are also reports going around that the Season 4 premiere of “Chicago PD” will see Commander Crowley, played by Barbara Eve Harris, initiating an investigation into Hank Voight and Erin Lindsay after she suspected that the two had something to do with the death of Justin’s killer.

It can be recalled that back in the Season 3 finale, Voight killed the murderer of his son Justin as sort of vengeance and only Lindsay knew about it. Voight and Lindsay are like father and daughter which is why Commander Crowley believes that one is protecting the other. She does not know which one is which and that prompted her to make the investigation.
