Being the head of the precinct where some of his subordinates are getting into a relationship with one another, Sergeant Henry ‘Hank’ Voight, played by Jason Beghe, may have had enough of his department’s share of the love bug in the American police procedural drama TV series “Chicago PD” on NBC.
Fans would recall that Voight was very strict and adamant when he learned about the relationship of Detective Erin Lindsay, played by Sophia Bush, and Detective Jay Halstead, played by Jesse Lee Soffer. He even reminded his subordinates in his precinct back then that he would not encourage affairs.
It was actually Voight’s words that sent Lindsay into depression, thinking that she and Halstead would never be together again.
But it was merely a job for the Chicago PD head because he obviously wants to keep peace among the team members and warring partners often tend to cause problems for the group, notes the Ecumenical News.
Softening up on relationship
Over time, however, Voight has softened up. In fact, he has sort of approved the previous relationship of Kim Burgess, played by Marina Squerciati, and Adam Ruzek, played by Patrick John Flueger.
But their relationship was not meant to be after Burgess realized that Ruzek has no plans of taking her to the altar. So they broke up and then came Sean Roman, played by Brian Geraghty, to the picture, and formed part of the love triangle.
It seems however that Voight would not tolerate the budding relationship of Burgess and Roman because there would be tension that would ensue with Ruzek and it would not be consistent with his intention to keep peace within the group.
The Chicago PD head believes that a potential love affair between Roman and Burgess would surely disrupt the harmony that he has painstakingly worked hard for to keep in his precinct. The upcoming episode 20 of “Chicago PD” Season 3 to air on May 4 would surely highlight his fear of feeling the tension and possible animosity within his team.
Pushed back episode
Early this month, reports have it that episode 20 of “Chicago PD” will air on April 27 but it seems that it would be pushed back to May 4.
Apparently, NBC is waiting to bring the show back and is using the time until then for repeats and some other assorted projects, notes Cartermatt.
Based on the synopsis of the upcoming episode 20, Voight will find out that his son may be back in town even as he is looking in the direction of the blossoming romance between Burgess and Roman.
Episode 19 of “Chicago PD” was aired on March 30 and it allowed the fans of the show to get a good glimpse of the brewing love triangle among Sean Roman, Adam Ruzek, and Kim Burgess.
In the previous episode, Ruzek nearly raised hell for Roman’s extra closeness with his ex-fiancee Burgess. While Kim and Adam have broken off their engagement because the former realized that the latter has no plan of marrying her, he still feels hurt when his former fiancée starts getting a little too close with Sean.
It is likely that the rising tension between the Ruzek and Roman will once again be put to light in the upcoming episode 20 of “Chicago PD.”
But then again, as a police procedural drama TV series, such would just be a sidelight to the case-of-the-episode plotline that “Chicago PD” will have.
There is also the fan-favorite relationship between Detective Erin Lindsay and Detective Jay Halstead. Since the start of Season 3 of “Chicago PD,” fans had been excited to see the sort of reunion between the former lovers.
Fans love nothing but a romantic reunion or rekindling of the relationship between Lindsay and Halstead and it seems that the two characters have started moving towards that direction. The showrunners apparently recognize that the relationship of ‘Linstead’ is an important juice of the main plot of “Chicago PD.”
