“Chicago Med” is in its second season, and it looks like the upcoming episode 3 is going to be a challenging story for at least one character, namely Rhodes. The preview for the episode depicts him in a pretty messy situation, and we’re curious to see how he is going to handle it.
There was an implication that we might see Rhodes experiencing the consequences of his actions in this episode for quite a while, and it might not be a positive outcome either. The character is going to have to tackle a very tricky case, one that will give him a true challenge and will test not only his skills, but his patience and nerves.
At the same time, a lot will be on the table for Rhodes, as the patient is a high-profile one. Rhodes will apparently decide to attack the case head on, without asking for help from his higher-ups, and this is going to stir up some controversy in his team. Whether he will be able to resolve the situation without any repercussions is hard to tell, but it does look like the writers are planning something special for him.
There are actually multiple ways for this to potentially go wrong for Rhodes. He may mess up the operation, losing his reputation and damaging his relationships with his colleagues beyond repair.
On the other hand, pulling off the operation successfully is still no guarantee that he will be off the hook, as he will still have some explaining to do to Dr. Latham. Perhaps we’re going to see Rhodes going his own way in the future, forced to become a little more independent.
Of course, the new episode won’t be all about Rhodes, and it sounds like other characters are about to get plenty of development of their own. Some fans are curious to see the outcome of the situation with April, for example, as her boyfriend’s proposal came out of the blue for many.
Then the preview talks about Dr. Daniel Charles, who’s going to face a challenging case himself. All in all, most characters will likely be busy trying to deal with some rather complicated issues in this episode, and it seems like we’re going to see some strong personality development on all fronts.
It’s a bit surprising that this show is so straightforward with building up some of its characters, but at the same time it’s a refreshing change in the context of other productions that have flooded the screen lately. Many producers seem to be taking it slowly and safely, leading to some shows feeling too monotonous for their own good.
“Chicago Med” seems to have struck the right pace from the very beginning, so hopefully we’re going to see the producers maintaining the same level of quality in the future. Some were skeptical when the show was originally announced due to its premise, but it managed to change most skeptics’ minds quite quickly.
It’s true that the medical drama genre has become a little too clichéd nowadays and there is probably something to be said about a new show coming up in this genre, but at least “Chicago Med” is approaching things in a more creative way.
Which is probably why it’s managed to establish such a loyal following of fans, and why the show is expected to remain on the screen for a long time by many. Whether or not those predictions will come true is impossible to tell right now, especially at such an early stage in the show’s lifetime, but they do seem like reasonable expectations.
