Chicago Fire Season 5 to Feature Casey Settling Down for a Safer Job, Kidd and Severide Engaged in Tough Fight!

There’s apparently a lot coming up in the next season of “Chicago Fire”, and some characters will likely see their roles in the show rearranged. Others will have to go through some difficult battles that will probably change their personalities permanently, so all in all, it looks like change will be a major theme in the upcoming season.

Fans have been mostly interested in the situation around two of the show’s couples, namely Casey & Dawson, and Kidd and Severide, and it looks like both will be given a lot of exposure in the upcoming episodes. However, some fans of the show might not be pleased with how some of those characters will change.

For example, Casey is reportedly going to consider settling down with a less dangerous position (there have been particular hints about a desk job), but in the end it might actually be Dawson who makes that sacrifice.

In any case, the two will have to come to terms with the fact that their partnership isn’t quite going to work out with both of them having such dangerous jobs, and the only other realistic option would be for them to split. Hopefully the writers are planning to resolve the situation in a way that leaves everyone satisfied, although it seems too complicated to make this possible right now.

Meanwhile, Kidd and Severide will have to overcome some deep issues of their own, as the couple will be trying to get over presence of Severide’s ex-husband into their lives. From the various reports we’ve read, it sounds like the two will be reluctant to get close to each other at first, but will eventually warm up and be more open.

Kidd will particularly have to deal with some tough thoughts as he’s trying to overcome the perceived betrayal from Severide, who will be feeling quite negatively about the situation herself. It does sound like the issues between the two characters can be resolved with some patience from both sides, so hopefully that’s what we’re going to see by the end of this season.

It’s good to see that the writers of “Chicago Fire” are moving to resolve the issues they set up in season 4, because some fans have been getting impatient with these storylines. Of course drama has always been a major part of this show, but keeping so many things unresolved between the two seasons seems to have hit most fans a little too heavily.

On the other hand, it’s obvious that drama will always be a central part of this show’s structure, as there wouldn’t really be much substance to it otherwise, so it’s understandable why the writers would want to set things up for themselves in such a way.

The ratings of the show have been okay lately, so it doesn’t look like the producers are taking on too much of a risk with what they’re planning for season 5. As long as they’re planning to resolve all those issues by the end of the season (and possibly leave some new ones open), that’s all that will really matter to fans.

Other relationships will apparently also get shook up a little during this season, in particular that of Boden and Borelli. It looks like the latter still hasn’t gotten over the death of his brother, or rather still holds it over the head of Chief Boden, so we expect quite a bit of tension between the two once the season arrives.
