Apparently, the fan backlash of the network’s decision to renew the show for a ninth season without Stana Katic on it was too much that it has reconsidered its plan. As a result, the first 40 minutes of the Season 8 finale episode seemed to be on cue as to its pacing, but there came a sudden burst of speed towards the end and fast-forwarded the ending to a time-jump into the future where Rick Castle and Kate Beckett are already happily married with their three kids.
Subsequently, there were rumors saying that the Season 8 finale ending of “Castle” was not the real scene that the showrunners planned since the show was previously renewed for Season 9.
So when reports started coming out last month that the home entertainment release of the full Season 8 of “Castle” will be hitting the video shelves complete with some deleted scenes and never-before-seen footage, fans and critics immediately jumped to the conclusion that the alternate ending for Season 8 would be one of those.
But apparently, it was not the case. The DVD/Blu-ray release of “Castle” on August 23 only involved scenes that were not shown on TV because of time constraints.
The footages are from the different episodes of Season 8 which is basically a made-for-TV stuff.
One of the deleted scenes, for example, is from the Season 8 episode entitled “Dead Red,” and it showed an unsuspecting party-goer getting the wrong type of attention after reaching for his selfie stick to take a picture.
There are still other scenes in the home video including behind-the-scene footages as well as some bloopers of cast members during the filming.
