‘Castle’ Season 9 Revival from Cancellation Now Swirling Wildly in the Rumor Mills!

It has been reported late last month that Season 9 of the American crime drama TV series “Castle” has already been canceled by ABC following the happy ending of the Season 8 finale that aired on May 16.

However, as of late, there have been reports going around that Season 9 of “Castle” is being revived and that pre-production of the TV series is now in progress, reports Movie News Guide.

Latest reports also have it that Season 9 of “Castle” might be released on ABC before the series spin-off hits the small screen.

According to reports, Nathan Fillion is already a shoo-in for Season 9 of “Castle” because he is contracted for the TV series for one more season. Actors Molly Quinn, Toks Olagundoye, and Susan Sullivan are also in serious discussions for their return to “Castle.”

Seamus Dever, who plays Detective Ryan, is also being reported to return for Season 9 of “Castle.” Fellow supporting player Jon Huertas is also expected to return for the potential ninth season of the popular TV series.

All the six cast members are expected to return to the TV series and most fans of “Castle” are already excited to catch their favorite characters on their favorite show.

Fans confident of show’s revival from cancellation

Although the rumored revival of the already-cancelled “Castle” for Season 9 is still unconfirmed, many fans are confident that there is really a good chance that the TV series might see the light of day.

As a matter of fact, series executive producers Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter have previously stated that they have filmed an alternate version of the Season 8 finale of “Castle” in the event that the show gets renewed for Season 9.

The showrunners revealed in an interview last month that the alternate “Castle” Season 8 ending featured Nathan Fillion’s Rick Castle, together with his family and colleagues, already thinking that Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic, is dead when in truth, she is still not.

What seems confirmed at this point is that actresses Stana Katic and Tamala Jones shall no longer be returning for Season 9 of “Castle.”

While the reports indicate that Katic has not been renewed by ABC for the supposed ninth season, sources say that the actress and his co-lead star Fillion are having some kind of dispute. This became apparent when the actress was recently seen crying in her dressing room supposedly due to the harsh treatment of her by Fillion, details Game & Guide.

In fact, there are reports saying that Katic and Fillion have undergone counseling just to patch their differences professionally.

The spin-off TV series

According to reports, “Castle” shall also have a spin-off TV series based on the two installments of Nikki Heat’s novels including “High Heat” and “Heat Storm.”

But this remains as speculation too pending the confirmation from ABC Studios and it seems that the network would not be making any official announcement or statement soon.

Meanwhile, upon learning of the rumors about their dispute, Stana Katic denied it saying that there is no truth in them. It is likely that there is no problem with the professional relationship of Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion and the key reason why “Castle” was canceled for Season 9 is because of the ballooning cost of keeping a show on the air as actor salaries keep on increasing.

Assuming that “Castle” is renewed for Season 9, there are actually three major possible scenarios that may happen in the TV series.

It is possible that Kate Beckett will die since the actress who portrays her character shall no longer return.

There is likely to be a new team at the Precinct 12 of the NYPD with the demise of Beckett. The existing team, compose of Castle, Hayley, Esposito, Ryan, and Alexis, shall possibly have new member additions as well.

Castle Season 7

With Beckett all dead and gone, it is possible that Rick Castle will find a new love interest in the hypothetical Season 9 of the TV series.

ABC had decided to retract its decision to renew “Castle” for Season 9 in light of the firestorm that it has created when it decided to let go of Stana Katic and Tamala Jones while giving one-year deals to Nathan Fillion, Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever, and other cast members.
