After six episodes of disappointment, fans of the American crime drama TV series “Castle” on ABC are back in good harness as the seventh episode, titled “The Last Seduction” saw Rick Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, and Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic, taking that time out from their time out to finally reunite as a couple.
It turns out that that reunion of Caskett on episode 7 that aired on November 16 was right on cue for the celebration of their second wedding anniversary, which will be on the upcoming eighth episode titled “Mr. and Mrs. Castle.”
Based on the episode synopsis, Rick and Kate would have that ‘Love Boat’ experience in a cruise ship but not to have an anniversary honeymoon but to investigate the murder of the cruise ship entertainer first and foremost, notes TV Line.
The couple goes onboard the ship, disguised as a honeymooning couple, to dig up clues and find the murderer. Since they are onboard a cruise ship, the pair would surely have a lot of fun time together not just for work but to catch up on the times that they were apart.
Returning early next year
The upcoming episode 8 of “Castle” will actually be the show’s fall finale but instead of the previously reported return of February next year, the TV series will be back on ABC for the second half of Season 8 on January 4, 2016 with its ninth episode titled “Tone Death.”
According to the Christian Post, the reason for the change in schedule in the show’s second half is not clear, but it seems likely that the network does not want to keep the fans hanging on what will happen to the relationship of Rick and Kate after they have gotten back together again.
After six episodes of disappointment and dismay, fans finally saw the show’s lead stars together again on episode 7 and then on the upcoming episode 8. Keeping a long gap between episode 8 and episode 9 would surely make the fans frustrated yet again.
“Castle” is just recovering from a series of misses by the new showrunners so fans should not suffer yet again if the network wants to redeem the TV series from its momentary dip in interest.
While it was explained during the last episode that Kate decided to break up with Rick so that she could protect him while she goes out to investigate the LokSat/Bracken case, the separation thing was just too much for fans that it was only fitting that a steamy reconnection on the end of episode 7 was in order.
Giving in to fans’ demand
Show creators Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley promised viewers before episode 7 that they will see the couple together once again.
The three-week break of the show on air may have given the showrunners enough time to make the adjustment on the Season 8 plotline and hastened the reunion of Caskett because apparently the separation has turned off a lot of fans of the show that the TV series experienced a dramatic decline in viewership.
In order to arrest the plummeting ratings and eventually the possible cancellation of “Castle,” the showrunners had to do something drastic by giving in to the fans’ demand.
Terence Paul Winter, in an interview before the airing of episode 7, said that the upcoming episode of “Castle” will finally see the heart-winning reunion of Rick and Kate. He also added that it will also be in the upcoming episode where fans would finally learn why they had to split up the power couple as if to justify their decision for going into such direction early on.
Winter assured fans that it is going to be a great episode and they would also understand and see what the two showrunners have been aiming for all along.

“What will happen to the relationship after Rick and Kate have gotten together again.” Interesting question considering that the show runners have been quoted several times saying that there will be no divorce and that, because of the split (hiatus), their marriage will be made stronger. They have already said, too, that they have a deep love for each other and they realize that it is what makes the show a success and they would not damage the relationship.
Nathan Fillion is scheduled to appear on Last Call with Carson Daly on NBC on 11/30/2015. It would be nice if everyone would furnish Carson some points of interest, questions, etc to see if he will use them. Of course it does not mean that Carson will ask Nathan nor that Nathan will give straight answers.
