‘Castle’ Season 8 Midseason Premiere Deferred; Show to Catch Up with Sked By Airing 3 Episodes in 7 Days!

The midseason premiere of Season 8 of the American crime drama TV series “Castle” on ABC has been pushed back from February 1 to February 8.

However, it does not mean that the network is putting less priority on the show and its millions of fans. As a matter of fact, in order for the TV show to catch up with its schedule, it will actually have its three episodes aired in seven days following its premiere.

Episode 9 of “Castle” is titled “Tone Death” and it shall be aired on February 8. It will focus on the murder of a high school a capella singer. Corbin Bleu from “High School Musical” will be appearing as a guest star and he will be playing as a singer from the rival group and shall be the main suspect in the murder case, notes the Christian Today.

The tenth episode titled “Witness for the Prosecution” will air on February 14 where “Castle” will be threading into a new territory – a courtroom scene.

In the episode, Rick Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, will play a significant role as the witness to the murder case. Reports have it that the trial case will deal with events from the previous season and it is likely that a few of the problems that Castle had to work around before will come back to haunt him this time around.

Co-showrunner Alexi Hawley said that for the first time ever in “Castle” history, the TV series will feature a trial based on a past case. He added that Castle will be an interesting guy to give testimony and he shall be taking the stand. He also hinted that everything will go sideways and there will be a fallout from that so there shall be some scrambling to do damage control.

Terence Paul Winter, the other series creator, added that it shall be a treat to the long-time fans of “Castle” because the case will deal about several things that have happened in the TV series in the past. It is expected that the episode shall be peppered with flashback scenes from episodes of the previous seasons.

Capping off the 3 episodes in 7 days run of “Castle” will be episode 11 titled “Dead Red” which will air on February 15 and shall put back the TV series on its Monday night schedule.

More guest stars in the second half

Although the second half of Season 8 of “Castle” has yet to return to the small screen, reports also have it that several veteran TV actors will be joining the series as guest stars.

After Corbin Bleu, it is expected that the likes of Nick Tarabay, an alum of “Spartacus: War of the Damned;” Ellen Woglom, an alum of “Californication;” and Summer Glau will be featured in the remainder of the TV series for its Season 8, notes Movie News Guide.

Summer Glau and Nathan Fillion used to co-star in “Firefly” so the former’s guesting on “Castle would be a reunion of sort for the two. Other “Firefly” alums who previously guested on “Castle” included Adam Baldwin and Gina Torres.

Glau will play a private detective who will go head to head with Richard Castle.

Nick Tarabay will appear in episode 11 and he will play a Russian Diplomatic Security Service agent named Vasily Zhirov, following the death of a Russian national.

The episode actually draws inspiration from the culture-clash comedy film “Red Heat” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Belushi shown in 1988.

It shall also be the same episode where Ellen Woglom will appear in “Castle” where she will play a cadet mentored by Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic.
