Castle Season 8 Could Be the Show’s Last if Ratings Don’t Improve Soon, Worrying Reports Indicate!

“Castle” used to be a great production with a lot of success and high ratings when it originally launched, and the show actually managed to retain that trend and keep it going for quite a while as its ratings kept improving and its popularity grew more and more. At the same time, the producers were experimenting with new ideas and generally trying to do their best to maintain a high level of interest towards the show, and they were very successful for a while.

More recently however, things have reportedly taken a turn for the worse as “Castle” has been seeing some declining ratings and the show might be headed towards trouble in the near future. Fans have apparently stopped showing so much interest in the production, and at the same time the plot has settled into a more routine state without much excitement on any front, leading to an even poorer performance as a whole.

Sure, the writers have tried doing some more interesting things with the story lately, and they have even seen success here and there, but for the most part the plot of “Castle” has become quite standard and this is typical for a show that has been running for more than 6-7 seasons. Many productions see their cancellation exactly around this period, and there have been some rumors that “Castle” might also be headed in this direction, much to the dismay of some of its more hardcore fans.

It’s not very hard to notice the declining interest even without access to any official viewership numbers or ratings, as discussions about “Castle” have died down a little bit on the various messaging boards dedicated to the show, and fans are showing less and less interest in talking about the production, with most discussions focused on various ideas for future developments that are quite obviously never going to happen.

So with all that in mind, the future of “Castle” really is starting to seem a bit questionable, and the producers of the show might be right to be eyeing a possible conclusion to the plot. We don’t actually know if the cancellation is going to come from the network or the producers themselves – or if the rumors of the show getting cancelled are actually true in the first place – but hopefully the writers are at least going to come up with some interesting ways to finish off the various plot lines before pulling the plug for good.

Because for what it’s worth, “Castle” still has some quality writing going on, even if the show has become a little stale in its more recent episodes. The writers still know how to keep their fans at the edge of their seats, and there have been various interesting developments in the show as a whole that have set up a very dynamic environment for the characters. We’re curious to see how each character’s own storyline could be concluded if the show comes to a halt.

Castle Season 7

Some fans have been suspecting that the writers are planning something more dramatic and dark for the next episodes of the show if it’s really leading up to being cancelled, but we don’t know if that’s true or not. After all, “Castle” has always had a fair mix of comedy thrown in with the rest of its plot, and it wouldn’t make much sense for the show to have a grim, depressing ending, especially with regards to some characters.

  1. I’m sorry but this article just doesn’t cut it for me. The show was rim wrecked when they (the show runners and writers I refuse to say that they are not to blame for the current state of the show) separated Caskett. Since episode 2 all we have had has been lack luster episodes that are ignoring the critical parts of the plot – getting Caskett back together and catching Bracken’s partner. This is what is causing the lack of viewers and is the direct fault of the show runners – no one else. I would not give the show runners another job as show runners unless they can pull the show out of the morass it is currently in and do it soon.

    1. I absolutely agree! The writers need to return to what made the show great – the Castle/Beckett team solving crimes together not Beckett hiding out. Bring them back together and you will see the viewers return. Their relationship makes the show
