The current season of “Castle” is moving the story in a very dramatic direction, especially now when the show reached a two-part episode that introduced a significant dose of thrill into the mix. “Castle” is not a relaxed show in general, and it’s not rare for its producers to do things that put viewers on edge, but according to the reactions of most fans and critics, the last season of the show has really pushed this concept to the limit.
Excitement was already high before the new episode aired last night, as fans were expecting to see many interesting developments, especially regarding the fight between 12th precinct and the serial killers 3XK and Dr. Kelly Nieman. The conflict was set up in a very dramatic way right from the get go, and it was clear that the producers of the show wanted to give the characters a bit of a serious challenge.
In the beginning of the episode, Castle and Kevin were seen rushing into the apartment of Jerry Tyson, who claimed that his real name was actually Michael Boudreau and he’s not actually Tyson, nor does he know the whereabouts of Kate. Castle loses his temper and starts trying to pressure the man into admitting that he knows where Kate is, forcing Kevin to intervene and remove Castle from the scene.
At the same time, Kelly Neeman is being interrogated by Espo, but that doesn’t go over too well as Neeman refuses to say anything useful and pleads the fifth. That was pretty much expected considering the way the character was presented, although the producers did imply at this point that we’ll see more of Neeman – and that’s exactly what happens.
After Castle connects some points of what’s going on, he goes over to talk to a cell mate of Jerry Tyson in the prison, who tells him that Jerry has Kate and he needs Castle’s help in getting revenge on Jerry. After obtaining the address, Castle rushes to the place, where he’s presented with a live video feed of a surgery about to be performed on Kate.
He’s stunned by Jerry and taken captive, but it’s revealed that this was all a setup organized by Castle, as he instructs someone to “take the shot”, resulting in the death of Jerry. Meanwhile, Kate has managed to break free from her surgical table, and has killed Kelly Neeman, standing over her dead body. With the death of both killers, this puts an end to a major part of the story, and finally gives fans the peace of mind they have been asking for with regards to the safety of Kate, something that had become a focal point in online discussions about the show.
