Caroline Wozniacki Says Being in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is a Dream Come True for Her!

World No. 5 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Caroline Wozniacki says that it has always been a dream of her to finally make it to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

She got her wish when she is now featured in the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue along with another sportswoman, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

Since making her professional debut in the WTA in 2005, the tennis star from Denmark has landed the pages of Sports Illustrated. Obviously, because she was one of the fastest female rising stars in tennis.

Caroline Wozniacki made her mark in tennis last year when she went all the way to the finals of the US Open only to lose to American superstar Serena Williams.

Her first Grand Slam event this year was a bit of a disappointment as she made a second round exit in the just-concluded 2015 Australian Open.

Living her dream

She was actually the one who volunteered for the iconic sports brand during a meeting with the magazine’s editorial team at its New York City headquarters, immediately after the US Open.

Caroline said that she remembers saying to Sports Illustrated people that if they need a model or want one, she’s available and ready to shoot. She said that her boldness made a pretty good impression and she was taken in by the magazine.

She added that it has always been a dream of her to be in the swimsuit issue of the world’s most popular sports magazine.

Wozniacki’s photo shoot was taken by reputable photographer Walter Iooss Jr. on Captiva Island on Florida’s Gulf Coast last fall, notes USA Today Sports.

She recounted that her photo shoot was done two days after Ronda Rousey’s and that the weather during her turn was much friendlier. During Rousey’s photo shoot, the UFC women’s bantamweight champion was quoted to have said that it was a freezing ass cold day.

The tennis World No. 5 was also all praises for Walter Iooss Jr. She said that he was unbelievably quick. Caroline recounted that she changed into new swimsuit really quickly and made 12 different suits in all during the photo shoot, and loved every minute of it.

Denmark will go crazy

She said that Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue has a big following in Denmark. But when she was still a child, she did not pay so much attention to the magazine as she was frequently in America.

Caroline says that because of her profession as a tennis player, she travels the world often so she don’t get to spend so much time in her home country. But her being featured on the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated is both a huge deal for her and her family.

caroline wozniackiShe also thinks that Denmark will go crazy over the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated this year because she’s on it. Caroline said it would be fun to see how the Danish people would react to it.
