We’ve just seen what appears to be the first photo of Daniel Brühl on the set of “Captain America: Civil War”, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it was followed by additional shots over the next few weeks/months. We haven’t actually gotten a chance to see Brühl in action yet, but that will likely change soon, as there is a lot of interest from fans to see some sneak peeks at his work.
From what we’ve seen, he arrived wearing his regular street clothes, and his appearance seemed to be mostly the same as before, so the role likely didn’t require any special changes in him. Brühl is playing the role of Baron Zemo in the film, the arch nemesis of Captain America. This is a particularly interesting character for many fans, which is why there is so much attention on Brühl’s performance right now.
We don’t know how the new film is going to portray the villain either, and that’s a point of serious speculation among fans of Captain America. We do know some possible details from established canon, but it’s also likely that the film will show Baron Zemo in a somewhat different light, attempting to bring out some of the more unusual aspects of his personality.
The character’s origins show him as a scientist working for the Nazis, and he was quite prolific at his work, accomplishing a lot over a short period of time, and eventually coming up with the idea for a super adhesive solution. He was planning to use it for evil purposes, but his plans were stopped dead in their tracks by Captain America.
The container of the special adhesive was damaged and started pouring out, and Zemo attempted to use a mask to conceal his identity, but ended up having it permanently stuck to his face as it was covered in the solution.
In the new film, we’re going to see the story continuing from the same point where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ended, and we’ll see Steve Rogers leading the new team of Avengers on a mission to protect humanity. There is going to be another major international incident that’s going to cause some damage to the Avengers – even though they weren’t the primary intended target – and the political landscape of the world is going to start shifting in some dramatic ways.
There will be a move towards a system for accountability and an organization that gets to deal with the enlistment for the team. This setup might sound good on paper, but it’s actually going to be a problem for the Avengers, who’re suddenly going to find their team split up and disorganized. Are they going to pick up the pieces and move on forward, or is the conflict between them only going to intensify?
That’s one of the topics that has been discussed most actively in the community. Of course we’re going to see some form of conflict within the Avengers – that’s, after all, the whole main point of the new film. But on the other hand, seeing former allies going up against each other for too long might be a depressing sight for fans, and hopefully the producers of the new film are balancing things carefully around that idea.
There is still a lot of time to go until it airs anyway, so we would expect to get some additional hints about the plot and characters over the next few months. Production is likely going to intensify now, and with that, we would probably get more rumors than the average.
