First, there were rumors that Captain America will die in his third movie “Captain America: Civil War” which seems absurd right from the onset since it is his film and it is unlikely for the star-spangled superhero to meet his demise as the movie’s premiere protagonist.
Before that was the rumor about the possible death of Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers’ lady love, reports iO9.
Of late, however, speculations are rife that there will indeed be an Avenger death in the third movie of the Captain America trilogy when it hits global theaters on May 6. Accordingly, it will not just be one death but actually three Avenger deaths but that none of them will be Captain America.
Based on latest rumors, the three potential Avenger deaths in the movie possibly include Don Cheadle’s War Machine, Elizabeth Olson’s Scarlet Witch, and Anthony Mackie’s The Falcon, cites Cinema Blend.
War Machine made it first to speculations following the release of a shot of the movie showing Tony Stark cradling an apparently lifeless James Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine, which was also briefly shown in the latest trailer of the film. But whether War Machine is dead or just injured is not clear.
The Scarlet Witch made it to the chopping block rumors because reports have it that she and Vision would be in some kind of relationship in the film. However, there were also reports that implied that Vision would be leaving earth at the end of the movie, which means that the death of Scarlet Witch may have prompted Vision to leave earth for good as he will find no reason to stay.
The third Avengers superhero who also made it to the death rumors is The Falcon and that’s because he is the next-in-line to Captain America. If Captain America survives, then it could be The Falcon who will take the fall for him.
But all these are mere speculations and can only be confirmed once “Captain America: Civil War” hits cinemas in May.
Death is possible in MCU
It should be noted however that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a fictional world and it is just too ironic to see superhero characters dying but Marvel did put a sample during “Avengers: Age of Ultron” shown last year when Quicksilver, the brother of Scarlet Witch, got killed by Ultron.
And besides, the trailer that was shown where the rumored deaths were based were posted unofficially on YouTube and did not come from Marvel Studios.
However, a source privy to the movie claimed that there shall only be one actual death of a character in “Captain America: Civil War” because one hero will be critically injured and the other one will be a misdirect.
The source did not disclose who the specific character would be but based on the rumors itself, it seems that the Scarlet Witch would be it while War Machine would be the one who shall be critically injured and The Falcon will be the misdirect.
Evolution of the War Machine
After the first official trailer of “Captain America: Civil War” was released late in November that got fans extremely excited especially with the great divide among the Avengers, the excitement, and anticipation for the movie keeps on building up.
Although the movie is due to hit theaters on May 6, 2016 yet, the trailer and the subsequent official still pictures certainly whetted fan appetite and excitement that most can’t contain themselves in continuously looking for possible spoilers on the internet.
It is quite hard to forget that scene in the trailer showing Captain America and the Winter Soldier working as a team and battling Iron Man, which is sure to be the highlight of the movie.
If any, it actually resembles the impending confrontation of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight in the movie based on DC Comics “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” which shall hit theaters a little over a month ahead of “Captain America: Civil War.” The superhero battles in both films are what fans are getting excited about the two movies.
