After the first official trailer of “Captain America: Civil War” was released late last month and got fans extremely excited especially with the great divide among the Avengers, the excitement and anticipation for the movie keeps on building up.
Although the movie is due to hit theaters on May 6, 2016 yet, the trailer and the subsequent official still pictures certainly whetted fan appetite and excitement that most can’t contain themselves in continuously looking for more information on the internet.
It is quite hard to forget that scene in the first official trailer showing Captain America and the Winter Soldier working as a team and battling Iron Man, which is sure to be the highlight of the movie.
If any, it actually resembles the impending confrontation of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight in the movie based in DC Comics “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” which shall hit theaters a little over a month ahead of “Captain America: Civil War.” The superhero battles in both films are what fans are getting excited about the movies.
Interesting sidelights
Because there are plenty of Marvel superheroes in “Captain America: Civil War” there will be plenty of cast members to follow and thus, it is expected that there shall also be plenty of sidelights.
Since the release of the first official trailer of the movie, there have been plenty of interesting sidelights that made it to news online including the new costumes of Black Panther, the alliance of Captain America and the Winter Soldier, the emergence of Spider-Man, among several others.
Of late, however, reports started coming out that War Machine, played by Don Cheadle in “Iron Man 2,” “Iron Man 3,” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron” will evolve to become War Hammer, reports Cinema Blend.
War Machine is actually one of the many Iron Man renditions but only wearing a red-white-and-blue paint job. In “Iron Man 3,” Tony Stark renamed him to Iron Patriot. However, in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” he was back to being called as War Machine.
It seems that changing names of his superhero character has become James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes thing in Marvel movies as it has been revealed that in “Captain America: Civil War,” he will be called as War Hammer.
Whether his name will stick for good or change in the next Marvel movie that includes him remains to be seen, though.
No War Hammer in Marvel comics
It was actually Total Film which made the disclosure about War Hammer. The publication featured a full spread about “Captain America: Civil War” featuring members of Team Ion Man doing battle with Team Captain America.
As expected, War Hammer will be on Team Iron Man. The film’s official trailer also showed War Hammer’s pulverized body being cradled by a distraught Tony Stark so rumors started swirling that it could also be the death of the character.
Interestingly, there is no War Hammer in Marvel comics and critics find it strange that the movie would go with the name given the existence of the geeky tabletop war game called “Warhammer 40,000.”
“Captain America: Civil War” is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and is based on a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Unlike in “Marvel’s Avengers” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron” where the Marvel superheroes unite, they will be going against each other in “Captain America: Civil War,” notes Collider.
After the first official teaser, a new international trailer was released that offers a few new shots of the conflict between the Avengers.
Meanwhile, among the members of the Avengers in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War,” only Black Panther and Spider-Man has yet to be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
