‘Captain America: Civil War’ May Actually Feature The Hulk After All, Based on Hint of Falcon Actor Anthony Mackie!

It has been said time and again that Bruce Banner a.k.a. The Hulk will not be a part of “Captain America: Civil War” because Marvel Studios was apparently saving the green giant for “Thor: Ragnarok” due to hit theaters in November next year.

The promo arts and several trailers and teasers of “Captain America: Civil War” did not show The Hulk on it.

Even the delineation of the Marvel Avengers between Team Captain America and Team Iron Man seems crystal clear on which superhero belongs to which side and who does not. The Hulk was nowhere in the Avenger delineation.

All that seems to have changed with the recent interview of actor Anthony Mackie, who plays the Falcon in “Captain America: Civil War.”

It is not clear if Mackie made a wrong mention of a name or he just totally slipped up with the information which Marvel Studios seems to keep as the biggest secret of “Captain America: Civil War.”

Wants The Hulk in the movie

According to ComicBookMovie.com, it was actually Robert Downey Jr. who first suggested that Mark Ruffalo appears in “Captain America: Civil War.”

But his recommendation was turned down because Marvel Studios was saving the alter ego of Bruce Banner to Thor’s third movie.

However, in a recent interview with Anthony Mackie during Radio 1’s “Movies with Ali Plumb” podcast, the actor was directly quoted as saying that he has seen the movie and he thinks that it’s the best Marvel movie so far. He said that he was just being honest with his assessment because if he thinks a Marvel movie sucks, he will tell that it sucked.

Mackie said that “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Iron Man” are probably the best two Marvel movies thus far but he feels like “Captain America: Civil War” beats both of those two great movies.

He added that it’s really a good movie because it is more of an acting movie than an action movie. He thinks that the story is very concise and interesting and fans will get to see Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good acting.

Mackie said that on top of the great story and acting, the movie also has action in it. In fact, he thinks that “Captain America: Civil War” may be the first superhero movie that might be up for nomination for best picture.

Now it remains to be seen whether Mackie just slipped up during the interview but the presence or absence of The Hulk will be one of the more interesting things to look out for in “Captain America: Civil War” when it hits theaters on May 6.

Cover of Empire magazine

Indicative of the fan excitement over the showing of “Captain America: Civil War,” Empire magazine has made the two protagonists of the movie – Captain America and Iron Man – as the cover of its February 25th issue.

The cover shows Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man facing off against Chris Evans’ Captain America, reports Newsarama.

The cover of Empire magazine appears to be a homage as well to Steve McNiven’s memorable cover to Civil War #7.

It is possible that more new images and information about “Captain America: Civil War” could be forthcoming in the next issue of Empire magazine, which has been the trend in the past with the magazine and superhero movies.

Meanwhile, Disney and Marvel Studios should have just titled the movie “Captain America vs. Iron Man” and pit it directly against Warner Bros and DC Comics “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” because the latest promotional art for its upcoming movie “Captain America: Civil War” seems to indicate so.

The new promo art clearly delineates the Marvel superheroes as to which side they belong in the movie, whether they belong to Team Captain America or Team Iron Man.
