Capcom is still to announce a release date for its much awaited Resident Evil 7 game, but producer Michiteru Okabe has come forward to talk about the gameplay and input received from fans across the world.
He was talking to Game Informer recently and said the response of Resident Evil 6 has made it clear that fans are looking ahead for darker themes in the next installment which were seen in the earlier titles.
He explained fans of the series are looking ahead for survival horror and that too to be implanted in the core of its gameplay.
Earlier in September, in another statement, Okabe revealed they are looking ahead in experimenting more with the new game that includes some bold new things too.
Couple of games in the series is equipped with survival horror action and Capcom now need to find out what sticks and how the ideas may be more refined. However, if the Resident Evil 7 becomes a spin-off series, there will be very little for the developer to do to make it different.
Meanwhile, an article published on the website JBGNews writes the messages revealed by Capcom are decidedly mixed. It is not yet hinted whether the Resident Evil 7 will be favoring survival horror or action.
It cited a quotation of Capcom that read the numbered Resident Evil games are more of action and are aimed for mass audience. If this is to be believed, the Resident Evil: Revelations 2 may only be closer to survival horror and it is pointless to discuss that Resident Evil 7 would be returning back to its roots.
Not to mistake here that Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be the title for Resident Evil 7 as earlier thought.
Capcom has made it clear that Revelations 2 is a branch off the series and it is tailor developed to fulfill the demands of older fans.
It is a naked truth that the gaming industry is overflowing with action packed content. Time has changed and audiences have grown too. The franchises now need to compete with tons and tons of rival games to remain the powerhouse of the industry. Capcom is aware of all these and can understand what fans are looking ahead in the upcoming titles. Some wants the series to remain same throughout without realizing this may lead the franchise to easily die out.
Here comes a great challenge for the developer and to defeat it Capcom has moved forward with two separate arcs as an attempt to fulfill the demand of fans and also to keep their survival stable. This has resulted with two titles, one is Revelations 2 and the other probably would be named as Resident Evil 7.
