Capcom Could Potentially Have Resident Evil 7 in the Works!

It’s been known for a while that Capcom have a new project in the works. The PlayStation 4 has been a successful console on the market overall, but it’s also been enjoying strong popularity among some developers, Capcom being one of the most prominent ones. Jun Takeuchi, who produced “Resident Evil 5”, previously hinted that he’s currently working on a new project for the console. He didn’t say what it was, but he did admit that he enjoyed developing for the PS4 quite a bit.

There’s been a lot of speculation about this statement, with many fans wondering what game could Capcom possibly have in the works. “Resident Evil 7” is definitely one option, but there are other possibilities as well – a new “Devil May Cry” game is also not out of the question, and in fact, there have been hints recently that this might be happening as well.

Some fans have been skeptical of the possibility of a new title, or rather, of its quality. Recently, Capcom have made some releases that have been met less than warmly by critics as well as fans. Even the most dedicated fans of the company couldn’t help but admit that the quality of their work has been on a decreasing trend lately, and this could be explained by the way they have been splitting their development between multiple studios. Capcom used to be a name that gamers associated with guaranteed quality, and nowadays it’s lost that status.

There have been rumors that the company might make a new announcement at the VGA 2014 awards, or the PlayStation Experience. There are certainly several big opportunities for the company to make a major announcement if they have one planned for the coming weeks/months, but they should definitely take the time to prepare the game properly, and not rush it out the door like they tended to do with some of their more recent releases.

Resident Evil 7

Because in the end, Capcom still have the opportunity to make a great release that will be remembered for a long time, if they pay attention to what fans want from “Resident Evil 7”, and if they make proper use of the powerful hardware that the PlayStation 4 offers. The company has already made statements about the console and how easy it is to develop on, and if the new “Resident Evil” realizes the full potential of this hardware, it could be more than a great entry in the franchise – it could set some new trends for the horror genre as a whole, as previous games in the series have managed to do that to a great extent already.
