Dakota Johnson’s surging popularity came with a price to pay. She and her Welsh model-boyfriend Matthew Hitt had to part ways because the latter could not handle the immense attention she is getting because of the blockbuster Valentine’s Day movie “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
They broke up even before the movie hit the theaters on February 13 so Dakota was single again when the sexually-charged film was released.
Dakota and Matthew have agreed to end their relationship because the model said that he could not handle and does not want to be part of the actress’ meteoric rise to fame, reports Yahoo! News.
Holiday split
A source close to the former couple revealed to a US magazine that Dakota and Matthew have agreed to end their romance during the recent Holidays because the actress’ life was starting to get too crazy then and it was something that the model does not want to be a part of.
The same source said that the manner of the breakup between the two was not bad at all. They both talked and agreed that splitting was the best for both of them.
As a matter of fact, even after they have parted ways as a couple, Dakota and Matthew are still friends. Prior to the breakup, the former couple has been dating for the past couple of months.
Rise to fame continues
Dakota’s continued rise to stardom appears unstoppable these days. She is now a permanent fixture in regular red carpet events because of her role as Anastasia Steel in “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
The daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson disclosed in a recent interview that she has really wanted to be part of the film adaptation of the erotic novel by E.L. James because she believes that it’s a story about an intense and passionate love affair.
She finds her participation in the movie both terrifying and exciting. Terrifying because she has never been part of BDSM sex scenes in her young Hollywood career. Exciting because she has never experienced a project like this and she believes that no upcoming star in Hollywood has.
“Fifty Shades of Grey” is about the story of millionaire-businessman Christian Grey, played by Jamie Dornan who started a controlling love affair with Anastasia Steele. But his secret actually is his unique preferences in the bedroom.
She admitted that the movie’s BDSM scenes are really difficult to watch. Dakota says it’s a new thing for her and she finds it very confusing to the brain. She says that she can’t look at the scenes in an objective manner and wrap her mind around it.
Dakota adds that the BDSM scenes of the movie, which she finds difficult to watch, are also very difficult and emotionally taxing to shoot.
