Cameron Diaz finally said “I do” to rock star fiancée Benji Madden in post-sunset wedding ceremonies at the Beverly Hills mansion of the actress on January 5, 2015.
Among the celebrity guests to the wedding were Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as Cameron’s new sister-in-law Nicole Richie, who is married to Benji’s twin brother Joel, reports the Daily Mail.
Also in attendance were Samantha Ronson, Toni Collette, Jeffrey Katzenberg, producer Nancy Juyonen, and Pussycat Dolls choreographer Robin Antin.
Playing the role of bridesmaids to Cameron were Richie, Barrymore, Cameron’s sister Chimene, and her assistant Jesse Lutz.
Joel’s and Nicole’s five-year-old son Sparrow was the ring bearer to the nuptial ceremonies held in a tent set-up at the backyard of Cameron’s mansion.
Cameron and Benji have been living together for eight months before they finally decided to tie the knot.
In a statement after the wedding, the couple were quoted as saying that they were very happy to wed and start their new journey together while being surrounded by their closest family members and friends.
Before the Monday afternoon wedding, 42-year-old Cameron Diaz and 35-year-old Benji Madden hosted a rehearsal dinner for their guests on Sunday night, details the Huffington Post.
The beginning of love
Cameron and Benji were first romantically linked in May 2014 and reports of the couple’s engagement spread like wild fire in December 2014.
With their wedding Monday night, it turns out that the December reports were true. The marriage is first for both Cameron and Benji although Benjie was once engaged to Australian actress Sophie Monk in 2007. They called it quits the following year.
Cameron and Benji’s whirlwind romance and wedding are actually along the line of the actress’ statement made in 2010 saying that she was not good at planning a big wedding because it’s not her forte. She explained then that she would probably call all her friends 20 minutes before the bus leaves for the chapel and ask anyone who is available to come to her wedding.
It sure looks like her words almost came true on Monday night. There was obviously only a bit of planning involved in her wedding, but it was carried out by Yifat Oran, the wedding planner to the celebrities.
Aside from the large white tent erected at the backyard of Cameron’s Beverly Hills mansion, there was also a huge truck laden with floral arrangements from The Velvet Garden that was seen brining the white blossoms to the venue. There were also the trucks from Classic Party Rentals and Beverage Warehouse too.
Despite the hurried preparations, the wedding ceremonies and the reception that followed were not just fine, they were perfect. Cameron could not have been happier seeing that her wedding did not happen the way she saw it would be happening almost five years ago.
