However, they’ve already changed a lot, and fans actually seem to mind the rapid pace of development that the franchise has seen lately, in terms of things like movement mechanics and weapons.

Perhaps Activision could look in another direction for the evolution of “Call of Duty”. EA have tackled the problem in a creative way for their own flagship shooter franchise, “Battlefield”. Deciding to go back in time instead of pushing the game in the future seems to have been a winning move for them, and we wouldn’t find it surprising if Activision followed them for next year’s release as well.

In fact, some fans of “Call of Duty” seem to actually expect that at this point, and it wouldn’t be a far-fetched idea to see a more historic take on the franchise’s gameplay. After all, it too started with a World War 2 theme, and it would make perfect sense for Activision to go even further back in history than that. The studio definitely knows how to put their own unique twist on any theme they pick up, no mater what it is.
