In fact, during the weekend following the launch of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” on November 6, a Friday, the game has posted $550 million in digital sales and racked up more than 75 million hours of player engagement within a span of 72 hours.
Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, stated that the launching of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” is bigger than any game, any movie, or any entertainment launch last year.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” is the 12th entry in the “Call of Duty” franchise. Aside from generating $550 million in three days, more gamers are engaging deeply in the game than ever before as can be attested by the hours spent by each player on the game than any “Call of Duty” game on record.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” carries the torch from “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” by giving gamers a suit that allows more agility and adds more special abilities to their repertoire of death-dealing devices.
David Vonderhaar, studio design director of Treyarch Studios, tweeted that a new hotfix for the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” that went live early in December last year was meant to fix an exploit in the game.
While his tweet did not give much detail on what exactly was fixed, many people in the “Black Ops 3” community believe that it was addressed for players farming Crypto keys in the Gun Game mode.
