Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Double XP Weekend Introduces New Playlists in Preparation for Upcoming Havoc DLC!

One of the things Activision likes to do regularly in order to keep player interest in “Call of Duty” active, is to run “double XP” events during which players can earn double the XP points for performing in-game actions. Right now, they’ve run a double XP weekend for “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare”, and while the event is almost over, players still got a few goodies out of it. These include two brand new playlists to have fun in, and soon, gamers will also get access to new content in the “Havoc” DLC that’s coming out.

For those who’ve missed the event, the double XP weekend is basically exactly as it sounds, allowing players to level up their soldiers faster, and unlock more and better guns, gadgets and streaks. The game doesn’t typically put any limitations on players participating in the event, so the next time a double XP weekend rolls around, those who want to maximize their current level should just go all out and earn extra XP for as long as it lasts.

The new playlists introduced with the event are Hardcore Mosh Pit, and Comeback 24/7. The first one is a mixture of various Hardcore modes, allowing players to enjoy a little more variety in their action if they want to play in Hardcore, while the other is a constant replay of the same map, similar to Nuketown events from “Black Ops”. The “Havoc” DLC is currently only available to Xbox players, however the double XP event and new playlists were made available to all players.

Regarding the 24/7 playlist, there was actually a vote for which map to feature, and Comeback was a close winner with 19% of user votes, beating Detroit quite narrowly. Players running the Comeback 24/7 playlist will have access to several game modes, like TDM, Uplink, Kill Confirmed and Domination.

So far, reception to the title has been surprisingly positive, after the last installment in the franchise saw some mediocre reviews and even disappointment among fans who felt the game offered too little value for its money. “Advanced Warfare” seems to have restored fan trust in the franchise, and the game is going quite well so far. There’s sufficient hype for the new DLC coming up as well, which is always a good indicator when it comes to a game that’s already been on the market for a few months. Whether this also means that the franchise could still have a good future after this installment, it’s hard to say – but if Activision keep pushing on the same strong points, it could very well regain its former glory.
