Following the filing of divorce in court by Angelina Jolie from former husband Brad Pitt earlier this week, there have been reports coming out saying that the main reason why the actress decided to do so is because the actor allegedly physically abused their son Maddox while they were having an argument while onboard a private plane.
According to reports, Brad Pitt lunged at 15-year-old Maddox when the young man tried to verbally defend his mother during a mid-air argument that led to Angelina Jolie filing for divorce five days later, reports the Daily Mail.
The incident is under investigation now by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Los Angeles social services.
There were even reports saying that the incident was caught on camera, where the 52-year-old actor was seen looking drunk and yelling.
The footage is reportedly taken on September 14 after the family’s jet stopped for fuel at Minnesota’s International Falls airport during their flight from Nice, France to Burbank, California.
Angelina Jolie has jumped in between Brad Pitt and Maddox but it is not clear whether the contact between the actor and his son was intentional.
A source privy to the family claims that the abuse allegations on Brad Pitt are exaggerated and fabricated. The source adds that the actor did not commit any abuse of his children or Maddox for that matter.
Opposing parenting styles
There are reports now coming out saying that the divorce between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stemmed from their disagreements over opposing parenting styles, reports Us Weekly.
The actress reportedly tried to make it work but her kids come first and she could not let them see Mommy and Daddy fighting every time. The fighting got worse and they disagreed a lot about parenting and in a lot of other things too.
Reports also seem to indicate that Brad Pitt was wasted and started screaming during the flight and continued his rant on the tarmac when the plane landed. The actor reportedly tried to leave the scene in a fuel truck.
One day after Angelina filed the divorce papers in court, a police car was seen arriving at the Jolie-Pitt compound in Hollywood Hills where the actor was said to be staying while Jolie and his children are at a Malibu rental home.
The LA County Department of Children and Family Services also confirmed that there is an investigation into child abuse claims, but a spokesman later said that they have strict laws that don’t allow them to confirm or deny the subjects of investigations.
No visitation plans for now
In the divorce papers she filed with the court, Angelina Jolie has left it to the court to decide on the visitation rights for Brad Pitt to their six children.
However, a friend of the couple recently said that while Angelina wants the children to have a relationship with their father, she does not have any plan visitations for them for now.
The same source said that the divorce no longer came as a surprise to the actor but he was thrown off by the high-profile nature that it was done.
According to the same insider, Brad Pitt appealed to Angelina Jolie to do it quietly not to save the marriage but to consider the well-being of their children. The actress apparently ignored the plea.
Brad Pitt is said to be reeling over the end of his two-year marriage and the 12-year relationship with Angelina Jolie. It has been a tough pill to swallow for him.
The source said that the actor was completely caught off guard and blindsided by the move of his 41-year-old wife. The actor said that the actor had no idea that his wife would do such a thing.
While the actor is extremely upset over the whole situation, he is said to be totally focused on just being helpful and making sure his kids are doing as well as possible.
