Finnish game developer would be both happy and sad to know that its freemium mobile strategy game “Boom Beach” is now getting gamer preference over its other mobile strategy game “Clash of Clans.”
The shift started last month when “Boom Beach” got its updates on March 11 that were greeted by its gamers with great fanfare, notes iDigital Times.
Eventually, the disastrous March updates came to “Clash of Clans” that had majority of the “CoC” community complaining about it almost ceaselessly.
The “Boom Beach” March updates brought a lot of new stuff improvements and bug fixes but the key highlights are the Level 22 Headquarters and the Armory Level, which gave new upgrades to troops.
In addition, the Armory Level also has Gunboat abilities, which seems to be delighting gamers to no end.
But there are still other new features that came with the updates including Supply Chests which contained rewards based on the gamer rank, and can be claimed after he or she gains five victory points, with new points being earned every 24 hours. So the higher the player’s rank is, the better rewards would come to him or her.
There is also the Statue Storage which is where gamers can place their statues but they won’t be able to store them once it is placed.
The updates generated a host of problems
The March updates on “Clash of Clans,” generated a host of problems and complaints from gamers.
The “Clash of Clans” March updates added a Dark Elixir troop called Bowlers as well as new levels for Inferno Towers, Mortars, Hog Riders, Valkyries, and Goblins. But the players were up in arms on the game’s new war matching systems.
The latest tweak on “CoC” also changed the graphics of the match-making system as well as some of the air defense building units. In contrast, “Boom Beach” players got to have another Megacrab and Dr. T in-game events that were bundled with the latest updates to the game.
In a post on the “Boom Beach” subreddit, one gamer explained why he now prefers “Boom Beach” over “Clash of Clans.” He said that he started playing “Clash of Clans” as his first Supercell game.
He explained that he still plays the game but the fun is no longer there because the March updates in “Clash of Clans” is so slow. In stark contrast, “Boom Beach” has a much harder entry.
Pushing VPs too early can surely get the gamer into trouble. However, it can be fixed by the player once he notices it and eventually he will come out of it quite fine.
The March updates to “Boom Beach” also brought a lot of improvements including Gearheart now allowing for 5 attacks instead of the previous 3. The Hammerman Attacks will now reward intel, there is now a short delay added after gamer troops have died to be able to use gunboat abilities, the headquarters experience requirements have also been re-adjusted, and several more.
Fixing base note errors
The updates likewise came up with fixes particularly in base note errors in Operations, it fixes the rare issue when exploding the Scorcher would destroy the headquarters without ending the battle, overlapping graphics for defenses, event dialogues, and several more.
Some three days before the March updates to “Boom Beach” went live, there have been reports that went around saying that the updates were pushed back due to issues.
However, giving a timeline and not being able to meet the deadline is not Supercell’s cup of tea so it went with the release of the updates as planned and scheduled, notes the International Business Times.
Aside from giving gamers constant updates and occasional strategies to “Boom Beach,” Supercell is also providing side activities for gamers to keep their enthusiasm and excitement to the game going.
The latest side activity to “Boom Beach” as espoused by Supercell is the sharing of fan arts by gamers and subsequently posting it on the Twitter page of “Boom Beach.”
