Finnish developer Supercell has added an element of socio-civic commitment to its popular freemium mobile combat strategy game “Boom Beach” by initiating a five-day program involving a special app called ‘Red’ in light of the celebration of the World AIDS Day on December 1.
Starting on November 30, Supercell unveiled an additional special app on the App Store called ‘Red’ that gamers were able to download as a special gameplay mode on “Boom Beach.” It went on a limited run as it was only good until December 4.
Based on the Twitter page of “Boom Beach,” gamers can win Red diamonds by playing the special app which they can eventually use to earn XP and other incentives in the main gameplay.
Supercell encouraged “Boom Beach” gamers during the five-day period to play the game by liberating the islands and saving lives while fighting AIDS in the process.
Apparently, part of the proceeds of the ‘Red’ app download from the App Store would be used by Supercell in the campaign to fight or prevent the spreading of AIDS in the world through proper awareness. The developer actually called their limited initiative as ‘RAID against AIDS.’
On December 4, following the end of the special program, the “Boom Beach” development team also posted on Twitter their gratitude to all gamers who took part in the special event, meant to help the campaign against AIDS.
Walking gamers through
Supercell continues to walk gamers through via the official game forum on the game’s website or through its social media accounts on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
Supercell’s strategy is one way of ensuring of keeping its millions of gamers interested on the mobile strategy game, along with its usual updates.
The developer also makes it a point to post game tutorials on YouTube so that gamers would be able to get past any particular stage of the game which they find rather difficult or too challenging to complete.
One of the major focuses on the “Boom Beach” forum these days is the recruitment of new members, to help gamers overcome the hurdles posed by Lt. Hammerman as they all storm the beach and reclaim and take over one island after another.
Recruitment of members is the same as expanding one’s clan in the other popular mobile strategy game “Clash of Clans” also developed by Supercell. Apart from engaging another mobile gamer to get more interested in the game, recruitment helps in really promoting and ensuring that “Boom Beach” still remains in the list of Top 5 mobile games in the world today.
As a mobile game, whenever Supercell releases an update or updates to “Boom Beach,” it always makes sure that it comes up with versions for the Apple Store for iOS devices users, the Google Play Store, for Android mobile device users, and Windows Store for Windows phone users.
However, sometime in October, a gamer on an Android device, posted on Supercell’s game forum that he can’t update “Boom Beach” from the Google Play Store.
The gamer said that he has been playing “Boom Beach” for nearly a year now but for the first time ever, the October updates of the game did not come to his device quite as easy as in the past updates.
He explained that when he got to the Google Play Store and tried to update “Boom Beach,” he was not able to do it and there was a prompt that said ‘Your device is not compatible with this version of the update.’
The player said that he finds the experience very irritating because his Micromax Canvas 2 Colours running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat has been running fine before the October updates for “Boom Beach” but he appears to have hit a stonewall for some reason. He then sought the help of Supercell for his dilemma.
