‘Bones’ Season 11 Episode 11 Featured Booth Looking at Hope and Brennan Looking at Science on Hodgins’ Paralysis!

The second half of Season 11 of the long-running American police procedural drama TV series “Bones” returned to Fox on April 14 and it pulled the emotional strings of the viewers as it dealt with the situation some eight weeks after the tragedy that has befallen on Dr. Jack Hodgins, played by TJ Thyne, during the fall finale.

Although there was a bit of optimism for Jack during the episode as FBI Special Agent Seely Booth, played by David Boreanaz, looked at hope, while Dr. Temperance Brennan, played by Emily Deschanel, looked at science in finding a solution to Jack’s paralysis, the episode finale came crashing down hard on the doctor when he learned that he would never walk again, notes TV Line.

In an interview with co-showrunner Michael Peterson regarding Hodgins’ fragile mindset, he explained that they were looking at the different emotions people go through when experiencing a tragedy.

He cited that there is an inclination to go towards anger but they also argued and went back and forth and ultimately went with Hodgins’ first emotion being denial more than anger. Jack made the decision that he was going to be upbeat and work his way through it because he is in perfect denial.

Peterson explained that Hodgins was hanging on to the fact that he could feel something on his legs but he gets the news that as a scientist, those pains are not real and that he was merely lying to himself so he had to accept his situation more or less.

His wife Angela, played by Michaela Conlin, is obviously affected by the whole situation as well, and she also likes to hope that things will eventually work out for her husband.

Booth and Brennan have their own opinions on how the matter should be dealt with even as they try to solve the murder of a public defender during the episode, reports Parade.

Over the moon about the plot

Peterson also revealed that before they forayed into the plotline about Hodgins’ paralysis, they actually informed TJ Thyne about it.

The showrunner disclosed that the actor could not have been more excited to stretch his legs by actually not using his legs on the TV series. Peterson said that Thyne was just over the moon about the idea. They also like that the idea will affect everybody in the TV series, which it obviously did.

Incidentally, Peterson also disclosed that they are already getting ready to film the Season 11 finale soon which is to be directed by actor David Boreanaz himself.

The series co-creator said that Ryan O’Neal, who plays Brennan’s father, will return for the final episode and it is going to be an episode where there are hockey elements to it, which is why it excites David Boreanaz. He added that Jeremy Roenick will also be in the final episode of Season 11.

12th and final season

Even before the midseason premiere of Season 11 of “Bones,” Fox already made an announcement that was both a good and bad news for the fans of the TV show.

Fox Co-Chairperson Dana Walden and Gary Newman announced that “Bones” has been renewed for Season 12 which will air late this year. That is the good news.

The bad news for the loyal fans of the TV series is that Season 12 has been shortened with only 12 episodes and it is going to be the last and final season of “Bones.”
