Jon Bon Jovi, the lead singer of the band named after him, says that the secret of getting into a lasting marriage is simply getting it right the first time.
With the whole world celebrating Valentine’s Day, Jon Bon Jovi said that he has adored his wife Dorothea from the time he met her and he still loves her to this day.
The 52-year-old rock artist says that he and his wife Dorothea has been married for 25 years, which will be turning 26 sometime this year. They first dated when the two of them were still in high school.
Asked what was the secret to his lasting and seemingly durable marriage, which is hard to find these days among celebrity or private couples, Jon said that he was just fortunate that he got it right the first time. He says that Dorothea is the best and he just can’t help but adore her from the time they met until today.
The Bon Jovi lead singer made the proud announcement of his wife and their lasting marriage during an event called “Common Thread: An Acoustic Collection Music Series” held during the New York Fashion Week. He curated the event with fashion designer Kenneth Cole.
Working on new music
Jon Bon Jovi also disclosed that he and his band are working on a new music and an upcoming album.
He said prior to the fashion week event, he and his band were spending most of their time in the studio working on a new record. He even said that he just walked to the event from the studio that day.
The musician says he draws inspiration from the daily events happening around him for the new record that he is working on. Jon says that after reading the newspaper, he gets ideas and some opportunities to write something.
He also disclosed that while their band’s new album is still at its early stages, there is already a dozen songs in it and he feels good for every composition thus far.
A philanthropist by nature
Apart from being busy with their band’s upcoming album, Jon Bon Jovi is also preoccupied with his philanthropic and charity works.
Jon has been into a lot of charitable activities in the past because generosity and philanthropy almost come natural to the musician.
In addition to being very active with the Common Thread series, Jon Bon Jovi also personally manages his Soul Foundation. Recently, his foundation partnered with the HELP USA organization, which is being spearheaded by Kenneth Cole’s wife Maria, and the two NGOs have been collaborating on building an apartment building in New Jersey.
Jon says that being part of a socio-civic project is so rewarding emotionally for him. He explains that he likes what he’s doing because he leaves the place of those whom they have helped always feeling so good about the noble thing that they just did.
