Season 6 of the American police procedural TV drama series “Blue Bloods” premiered on CBS on September 25 and viewers were immediately put to the edge of their seats as the Reagan family of police officers began dealing with international terrorism, something that they have yet to do in the past seasons.
Episode 1 is officially titled “Worst Case Scenario” where the Reagans led by their patriarch Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, played by veteran actor Tom Selleck, were shown working to stop a terrorist threat from blowing up New York City, coming at the heels of a similar incident in the Middle East, details the Vine Report.
The Reagans were once again on the front lines by putting their lives on the line in order to keep the city safe.
Along with a team of detectives, Frank works to find out how to prevent a terrorist attack of the same magnitude from happening in the Big Apple.
Eventually, they learned later from Frank’s assistant, Detective Abigail Baker, played by Abigail Hawk, that the same terrorist bombings took place in Bangladesh and London, which made Frank presume that the next target would be New York City.
Complicating matters
Notwithstanding that it is already a high pressure and tense situation, Erin Reagan-Boyle, played by Bridget Moynahan, the daughter of Frank and the Executive Assistant District Attorney, further complicated matters when she starts confronting her father over his plan to raid an apartment rented by three Muslims.
Paranoia may have been creeping in on Frank in his sincere attempt to neutralize the threat to New York City but Erin was adamant over the strategy because of the move’s repercussion in the event that the police do not find a bomb in the apartment.
TV Fanatic opines that the police somehow came down a bit too hard and harsh on some people who were trying to do the right thing.
There was the scene where Police Officer Eddie Janko, played by Vanessa Ray, accused a waitress who called them to report about a guy who used phrases that scared her, as someone under the influence, which seems to be not the case at all.
Then there is also Detective First Grade Danny Reagan, played by Donnie Wahlberg, dragging Nazeem around by the arm like he was a suspect and then treated him like one at the police station where they finally got the services of a translator.
Not just terrorism
But terrorism will not be the only threat that Frank Reagan will be facing as Season 6 will reportedly bring charges of corruption which will surely put him and his entire family in danger.
In fact, right on the season premiere, Danny has already received a death threat from a supposed serial killer. He actually teamed up with Detective Maria Baez, played by Marisa Ramirez, in tracking down the serial killer which was left hanging during the premiere episode and is expected to continue to the second episode on October 2 titled “Absolute Power.”
“Blue Bloods” follows the story of the Irish-American Reagan family of police officers with the New York Police Department (NYPD).
The patriarch is Francis ‘Frank’ Reagan who is the Police Commissioner. He served as a US Marine Corps officer in Vietnam before he joined the NYPD. He is also a 9/11 First Responder and also a widower. His son Joe was murdered in the line of duty and has three other children – Danny, Erin, and Police Officer Jamie Reagan, played by Will Estes.
Danny is a top NYPD detective and holds the rank of Detective First Grade. He is a hard-nosed officer who does not always go by the book. Like his father, he is also a US Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Iraq War in Fallujah.
