Blindspot Season 2 to See Jane Doe as Young Lass in Her Backstory Revealing Her True Identity

It has been previously reported that Season 2 of the American crime drama TV series “Blindspot” on NBC shall already reveal the true identity of Jane Doe, played by Jamie Alexander, and that it shall also make the reveal through a closer look into her backstory.

Of late, however, Jane Doe’s backstory shall reportedly backtrack up to the time when she was about 9 to 11 years old as the producers are now reportedly looking to cast a young lass to play the younger version of the female protagonist of “Blindspot,” reports Cartermatt.

While initial reports have already said that it shall zero in on the past life of Jane Doe, it is only lately that the producers made known that her backstory shall make a fairly significant leap back in time.

Based on the casting requirement for the young Jane Doe, the child actress should be familiar or is good in gymnastics, martial arts, and preferably capable of talking with a South African accent.

While it may be a tough casting call for a young female actress, critics believe that the producers of “Blindspot” could spot a talent to fill up the role for Season 2, which will premiere on NBC on September 14 or about two months and a half to go.

A slightly different format

What makes “Blindspot” a standout among the bunch of American crime drama TV series on the small screen these days is its slightly different format.

Most of the other TV shows of the same genre have basically the same cut-and-dried plotline of the authority going after the bad guy or guys.

But in “Blindspot,” the lead character does not have any idea who she is because she has no memory of her past so the viewers were left guessing whether she is one of the good guys or may be one of the show’s bad guys, notes Hall of Fame Magazine.

It also sparked the interests of the viewers as they joined her in the TV series in trying to discover her true identity.

But as it turned out during the Season 1 finale, Jane Doe may not have an amnesia at all or may have already recovered from her memory loss. It was clear that she is not Taylor Shaw that she was once being personified to be after FBI Kurt Weller, played by Sullivan Stapleton, got the confession of Taylor’s father that he killed his childhood friend 25 years ago and buried her little body soon after.

As a result, Weller was furious at Jane over his discovery that she had been lying to him all along.

Looking also into Jane Doe

In addition to the casting call for a young lass for Season 2 of “Blindspot,” there are also reports saying that Archie Panjabi, an alum of the “Good Wife” will also be coming into the TV series as the head of a specific division of the NSA that has been looking into the activities of Jane Doe.

Because of the information about Panjabi’s character, speculations are rife that it could be Shepherd that has been spoken about on the show since Season 1 but has never been revealed or shown.

It can be recalled that back in Season 1, Oscar, played by Francois Arnaud, has told Jane that Shepherd is the mastermind of their clandestine operations, indicating that the character may be the show’s big bad.

Blindspot Season 1

Panjabi is a fan-favorite character in the “Good Wife” but because of the reported feud between her and co-star Julianna Margulies, she left the show last year.

Jane always had the upper hand during Season 1, from winning Oscar’s trust to concealing what he knows from Weller. Having already killed Oscar and being held responsible for Mayfair’s death, Jane is now in a real fix. So it would be up to her to either lie or finally reveal the truth she knows.
