‘Blindspot’ Season 2 to Finally Unravel the Identity of Jane Doe, Confirms Series Creator

NBC’s most watched crime drama series is set to return for its sophomore season this fall and word has it that the season will finally shed some light on the mystery of the identity of Jane Doe.

Fans will finally learn the true identity of Jaimie Alexander’s Jane in the upcoming season. Sullivan Stapleton’s Agent Kurt Weller had mistaken Jane Doe for his childhood friend Taylor Shaw who got estranged from him 25 years ago because of his father.

However, when Weller’s father confessed killing Taylor himself, the FBI agent was faced with the uncanny truth. As for Jane, she is also hazed by her own past due to her drug-induced amnesia.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Martin Gero reveals that fans will learn Jane’s real name in the Season 2 premiere. He also reveals that fans will find out a lot of other information and this time, it’s real.

Gero reveals that the real identity of Jane Doe was planned to be revealed during the season premiere because the show already has a lot of mysteries in store for viewers.

Gero said that “Blindspot” Season 2 is about delving into Jane’s former organization and knowing who the mysterious Shepherd is. He says that the second season will be more satisfying than the first one.

Some fans have commented that with the identity of Shepherd being dragged, they expect that the upcoming season will have a lot more mysteries than answers.

The showrunner further says that all these reveals and actions from the Season 1 finale will impact Jane a lot.

Movie News Guide notes that during the first season, Jane always had the upper hand, from winning Oscar’s trust to concealing the truth about her identity from Weller.

However, things are set to change in Season 2 especially after Francois Arnaud’s Oscar is now dead and she’s being held responsible for the death of Marianne Jean-Baptiste’s Mayfair.

Reports say that Jane’s version of the truth will be the focus of the first few episodes of the upcoming second season of “Blindspot.”

She’s had a rough season and entering Season 2 will see the family she’s created for herself shattering in a lot of ways.

Gero says that going into another season is a big thing for the whole team as it gives them the opportunity to reinvent the show a little bit more as far as the characters and their relationships are concerned.

Speaking to TV Line, Gero added that despite being held responsible for Mayfair’s death, Jane will still be helping out with the solving of who Mayfair’s real killer is.

As for Weller, he’s not going to place some trust on Jane anytime soon although they will be forced to work together with regards to Mayfair’s murder case.

Talking about Jane and Weller’s relationship, the executive producer says that their relationship will undergo inevitable duress and will take time for it to heal naturally.

Gero adds that the second season draws out the most interesting relationship into a more interesting place, dramatically.

Whether Jane was really the one who ordered Oscar to kill Mayfair, the Season 2 premiere episode will definitely give out answers. The enemies seem to be using Jane’s memory loss to make her the suspect in almost every crime.

Gero also confirms that operations Orion and Daylight both return this season. The words Doe heard during the season finale as well as the tattoos on her body hints significant information on Daylight and further complicates Jane’s past.

Gero adds that Daylight will be the bigger picture of the two as it questions the motives of those people who put Jane in the situation.

Fans will remember that during the Season 1 finale, Jane enlisted the help of a young hacker named Ana to track down Oscar.
