‘Blindspot’ Season 2 Showrunner Says Keeping Real Identity of Jane Doe Has Outlived its Usefulness to the Show!

Season 2 of the American crime drama TV series “Blindspot” on NBC shall be picking up where the Season 1 finale left off, confirms showrunner Martin Gero.

More than answering the burning questions that fans were left to contend with during the Season 1 finale, Gero said that the guessing game on who the real Jane Doe, played by Jaime Alexander, shall finally be revealed.

Gero said that the real identity of Jane Doe shall finally be brought to light when the series returns for its second season. The showrunner said that keeping Jane Doe’s character under wraps for a long time has outlived its usefulness because “Blindspot” already has a lot of mysteries to contend with, reports the Ecumenical News.

It can be recalled that during the Season 1 finale, Jane was introduced and suspected by the viewers as the mastermind in ordering Oscar, played by Francois Arnaud, to kill Mayfair, played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

Always gaining the upper hand

The showrunner revealed that Jane’s identity will have more to do with FBI Agent Kurt Weller’s journey in Season 2 and his belief that it was all about Taylor Shaw and the relationship that he had with his father.

Weller had mistaken Jane Doe for his childhood friend Taylor Shaw who was estranged from him 25 years due to his father, notes Movie News Guide.

The Season 1 finale also showed Weller very furious at Jane over his discovery that she had been lying to him all along.

Jane always had the upper hand during Season 1, from winning Oscar’s trust to concealing what he knows from Weller. Having already killed Oscar and being held responsible for Mayfair’s death, Jane is now in a real fix. So it would be up to her to either lie or finally reveal the truth about herself and all the things she knows.

A most-watched crime series

“Blindspot” is actually the most watched crime TV series on NBC. Reports have it that the second season of the show will return to the network in the fall with a new time slot and a new storyline.

There are also reports saying that operations Orion and Daylight will both return in Season 2 of “Blindspot.” The words ‘Orion is where you died’ heard by Jane and the tattoos on her body indicating information towards Daylight further complicate her past.

Gero confirmed that Daylight will be the bigger picture of the two as it questions the motives of those people who put Doe in such situation. But Weller is not going to put his trust on Doe anytime soon for sure.

Gero said that Jane’s real name, her backstory, and her history with the mysterious organization she joined will all be known by fans on the first episode of the upcoming second season.

He added that Season 2 will then shift the focus of the storylines to Jane’s former organization and discovering the identity of its mysterious leader known as the Shepherd.

“Blindspot” is expected to return to the small screen for its Season 2 this coming fall and shall likely have the same number of episode order of 23 just like its pilot season.

The death of Mayfair proved to be a turning point for Jane during the season finale. She also found out that her organization had been lying to her all along.

After playing both sides during the most parts of Season 1, Jane finally decides to turn against her organization and work with the FBI.

But according to rumors, during the second season, Jane will find herself without her closest allies which could be an indication of betrayal.

Blindspot Season 1

As a result of her joining her organization, her relationship with Kurt Weller of the FBI has been severely damaged. It also did not help that Weller discovered that his father had killed Taylor and that Jane was lying to him the whole time. He will obviously be very mad and take his anger with Jane.

In addition, Reade, Zapata, and Patterson will also find it difficult to trust Jane after they learned about the truth. She is also expected to take the blame for the death of Mayfair.
