Blindspot Season 2 Premiere Episode to Focus on Jane Doe’s Escape from CIA and Her Reunion with Kurt Weller

Season 2 of the American crime drama TV series “Blindspot” on NBC is set to premiere on September 14 and its premiere episode shall reportedly focus on the escape of Jane Doe, played by Jaimie Alexander, from the CIA after working with the spy agency for three months.

Subsequently, Jane will be reuniting with FBI Agent Kurt Weller, played by Sullivan Stapleton, though not in a romantic way, despite their major misunderstanding as a result of Jane’s betrayal in Season 1.

It could be recalled that Weller was infuriated upon learning that Jane already remembers her past and that she played everyone for a fool including him.

Based on the episode synopsis, it looks like Kurt Weller will be working again with Jane Doe, despite the former’s anger. Apparently, she will be working with the FBI as a triple-agent with her old terrorist organization where she previously unlocked some major secrets from her past, details the International Business Times.

The first episode of “Blindspot” Season 2 is titled “In Night So Ransomed Rogue” and it will show how Jane’s recent betrayals from both sides would threaten to tear her and the team apart for good.

Big reveal on Jane’s real identity

Consistent with the previous reports, Season 2 of “Blindspot” will have its big reveal on the identity of Jane Doe and this was confirmed by executive producer Martin Gero.

Gero, however, stated that some parts of Jane’s backstory shall remain a mystery so that the TV series can unveil it in the upcoming episodes.

The showrunner said that the early part of Season 2 shall focus on who Jane Doe is and what her connection is with the group of people.

He told fans that they should not expect to get everything in one moment because the show is going to expound on it as the years go by.

A slew of characters

The second season of “Blindspot” shall also be bringing a slew of new cast members. Foremost among those who joined the cast are Michelle Hurd and Luke Mitchell, who shall be playing as operatives from Jane’s past.

Mitchell shall be taking on the role of Roman, one of Jane’s contacts who was also mentioned during the Season 1 finale but Hurd’s character on the TV series has yet to be revealed.

In addition to Mitchell and Hurd, actress Archie Panjabi of “The Good Wife” shall also be coming to the TV series to portray the role of Nas Kamal, the head of a National Security Agency (NSA) department who will help in fixing the team after the wild roller coaster ride during Season 1.

As to whether her character is on the side of good or bad remains to be seen but fans are hoping that she is on the good side.

Reports are also saying that “Blindspot” Season 2 shall pick up three months after the events of the Season 1 finale, reports the Christian Times.

A lot has happened during the first season of “Blindspot” including the death of Jane’s former boss Bethany Mayfair, played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste. It was actually Jane who accidentally killed her and she has to deal with the repercussions of her action in Season 2.

blindspot

Showrunner Martin Gero describes the Season 2 of “Blindspot” as basically a reset of the TV series which is the reason why they wanted to bring in Punjabi.

Gero made the disclosure during the recent Television Critics Association summer press tour where he said that there will be more of Jane Doe and the Season 1’s mysteries will finally be answered right on the premiere episode of Season 2.
