BlackBerry Q20 vs. BlackBerry Q10 vs. Apple iPhone 6: The Electronic Fruits Faceoff

The Blackberry Q10 and the Q20 are two, almost similar looking devices, manufactured by the Canadian Telecommunication company that is popular for its ultimate business-class phones. Blackberry purposely moved away from the current-generation touchscreen phone-frenzy in order to develop these devices, keeping the classic Blackberry approach in mind.  Let us see how these devices stand out against the newly released Apple iPhone 6.

Display:

There is no doubt that Apple uses the most breathtaking displays in their iPhones. The iPhone 6 has an LED-Backlit IPS LCD display with a capacitive touchscreen supporting 16M Colors. It has a 720 x 1334 pixel display resolution with a 326ppi pixel density. It makes use of a shatter-proof glass with Oleophobic coating and comes with Display Zoom features.

The Blackberry Q10, although a QWERTY keypad phone, makes use of Super AMOLED Capacitive touchscreen with an amazing 328ppi pixel density. It has an ultra-sharp 3.1 inch display which supports multi-touch functions as well. The Blackberry Q20 has the same display resolution of 720 x 720 pixels as the Q10 and features a bigger 3.46 inch display with a lower 291ppi pixel density.

Performance:

Some people may not expect it, but the Blackberry Q20 is pretty impressive when it comes to its performance. It has a dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 CPU featuring the Blackberry 10.3 Operating System. Compared to this, the Q10 has a 1.5 Snapdragon S4 chipset on the LTE and a TI OMAP 4470 processor on the non-LTE versions. Similarly, it has a Krait architecture CPU on the LTE and a Cortex-A9 on the non-LTE version.

The GPU also changes for the non-LTE that comes with a PowerVR SGX544 compared to the Adreno 225 on the LTE. The Apple iPhone 6, on the other hand, is completely different with a Dual Core 1.4GHz Cyclone CPU, which is ARM-v8 enabled and designed on the Apple A8 architecture. It is significantly faster compared to its predecessor. It makes use of a PowerVR GX6450 GPU unit featuring quad-core graphics.

Memory and Storage:

Both the Q10 and the Q20 have the same 16 GB internal storage. However, the Q20 is expandable up to 128 GB with a micro SD card slot compared to the 64 GB in the Q10. Both of these devices have the same 2 GB RAM. Compared to these Blackberry devices, Apple has not included any external SD card option in its iPhone 6. It simply comes with 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants supported by a 1 GB RAM.

Camera:

All three devices have the same 8 MP primary shooters with the iPhone 6 having a dual-LED flash with dual-tone feature. The Blackberry Q10 and the Q20 have the same secondary 2 MP camera, which is higher than the 1.2 MP provided in the iPhone 6.

All in all, the Apple iPhone 6 is quite different from both the Blackberry devices. If you prefer a full touchscreen phone with a huge app-ecosystem, then Apple is the device to go for. If not, you can certainly take a look and see if you wish to pick a berry.

Stay tuned for many more comparisons from the world of electronics!
