Blackberry Q20 Features Significant Upgrades over the Bold 9900, Not So Much over the Q10!

The BlackBerry Q20, also known as the BlackBerry Classic, is regarded as a huge upgrade over the 3-year-old Blackberry Bold 9900. However, reports also indicate that the upgrades are not significant compared to the Q10. The BlackBerry Q20 was announced back on June last year and is presently awaited. It is the successor to Blackberry’s Bold series rather than being a justified upgrade to the Q10.

The device comes with a row of navigational keys, including two different keys controlling phone call along with a return key. The BlackBerry Q20 has a middle optical trackpad and also a Blackberry key that serves as a menu button. The trackpad also includes fast scrolling features that the users will adore. The navigational keys are certainly a welcome change, as the earlier on-screen keys were pretty much hogging the Blackberry User Interface.

The Blackberry Classic houses a Nano-SIM slot and features a capacitive touchscreen with 16M color definition. It has a 3.5-inch display with a 720x720pixels resolution and a vibrant 294ppi pixel density. The device supports multi-touch and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The BlackBerry Q20 runs on the latest 10.3.1 OS platform. It houses a Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU working on a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset.

It has an Adreno 225GPU to handle your basic graphical tasks. It has a 16GB internal storage capacity and runs on 2GB of RAM. It also has a MicroSD card slot with an expandable storage capacity of 128GB. The Blackberry Q20 further boasts of an 8MP rear camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels and other basic features that of touch focus, autofocus, LED Flash, face detection, Geo-tagging, HDR as well as panorama. It can record full-HD 1080p videos at 30fps.

A secondary 2MP camera is provided for video calling and selfies. All of this considered, the Blackberry Q20 is a worthy upgrade over the Bold 9900. It is rumored to be three times faster in terms of web speed, feature a 60% larger display and return 50% more battery uptime.

Blackberry Q20

When comparing this device with the Q10, you will notice a definitive upgrade over the previous 3.5-inch display. Nevertheless, a huge hype surrounded the device before its launch, ultimately caused a sell-out. The astonishing fact is that a sell-out in the pre-order stage was achieved even without revealing the official specs of the upcoming device.

The only major difference that is noticed by the users when compared to the Q10 is the Classic’s return to its roots. It features the traditional Blackberry design with the tool belt and the trackpad right below the display. The interface is also a little more intuitive in approach compared to the Q10. Stay tuned for more on the Q20!
