It’s not very often at all that Valve would allow a modding team to earn money from the Source engine, and it’s usually reserved for truly special projects like this one. But in this case, it’s clear that Valve themselves can benefit a lot from having this mod as an official game on Steam, as it’s great marketing for “Half-Life”.
Until the next game in the series is announced by Valve, fans can at least revisit the world of the original “Half-Life”, the game that started it all, and play it in high definition with a completely different look. It’s an experience worth enjoying for pretty much anyone.
That includes people who have played “Half-Life” before as well as those who haven’t. For the latter, that would be the ideal opportunity to dive right into the game without having to worry about low-quality graphics affecting the perception of it. It’s true that “Half-Life” looks a bit dated at this point, but “Black Mesa” more than makes up for that.
