“Big Hero 7” is still very much under question, as we’re not sure what’s going on with the film. Stan Lee has dropped some hints that the sequel is indeed happening, but we haven’t seen much more than that. Rumors are pretty much all we have to go by at the moment, and while there are plenty of them for sure, it’s pretty hard to tell which ones are worth paying attention to.
One of the more interesting claims we’ve heard about the new film is that Tadashi might not only be alive and return for the sequel, but he could be even more powerful than in the last film. According to the rumor, he could get the power to take in the heat around him and convert it into plasma. The implications of that are somewhat obvious, and the character could quickly take a more interesting turn in his development.
Baymax gave an “interview” a while back in which he also gave a few hints about the new film, claiming that Hero has been teaching him to laugh and overall working on improving him. This sounds like we may get to see a funnier, more entertaining side of the character in the sequel, which would be interesting in the context of Tadashi’s return as well.
Some fans have been digging into the first film for any possible hints about the sequel too, trying to find any possible hints about the plot of “Big Hero 7”. The phrase that Baymax often repeats to Hero – “Tadashi’s here” – has been seen by some as a possible hint that the character is alive, confirming the rumors that have been going around already.
With regards to the rumor about Tadashi’s new capabilities, it’s actually claimed that he will come back in a completely new form, as Sunfire, and that’s a theory that fans have been throwing around quite a lot on discussion boards. It would definitely make sense for the character to come back under a new identity if he goes through serious changes to his personality, but considering that even his survival is being questioned right now, it’s hard to tell.
That’s actually what inspired the rumors about Tadashi getting his plasma capabilities, as Sunfire is one of the original “Big Hero 6” members who had this exact power. On the other hand, some fans have been speculating that the character’s name might be changed for his new incarnation, but this is too difficult to speculate on right now.
We don’t even know what the film will be called. “Big Hero 7” is just a tentative name used by fans to refer to it in the media and online discussions, but considering that the film hasn’t been announced officially yet, we obviously also don’t know what its name is going to be.
“Big Hero 6” got its name from the structure of its story, and the number 6 has a significance there – which is why it might be a bit too early to assume that the sequel will be called “Big Hero 7”, unless it also comes with some changes to the cast. If Tadashi really is coming back though, this could make sense, as the writers will then have to introduce a few other characters as well to prevent the story from getting too stale. After all, fans might not be entirely too pleased to get a cast of the exact same characters as the first film – with the addition of the changes done to Tadashi – and they would want to see some progress and new developments.
