Early last year, renowned Marvel Comics writer Stan Lee was interviewed regarding upcoming Marvel movies.
He was quoted as saying that after “Ant-Man,” he and the writers over at Marvel Studios will start working on “Doctor Strange,” “Black Panther,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Big Hero 6,” the “Avengers,” and “Captain America.”
Obviously, he mixed everything up so as to throw off speculations. As everyone knows, “Ant-Man” came out of the theaters in June of last year while the third “Captain America” movie was just shown early this month.
The “Avengers” movie that Lee was referring to is the two-part “Avengers: Infinity War” whose release dates have already been confirmed for 2018 and 2019.
“Doctor Strange” is set to debut in November this year and its first official trailer came out already during the showing to global theaters of “Captain America: Civil War” early this month.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” already has an April 2017 playdate while the “Black Panther” will hit global cinemas on July 6, 2018.
Given the timeline of release dates, it is possible that Stan Lee shall be able to work on the sequel to “Big Hero 6” after the work on “Avengers: Infinity War” which would most likely be finished in 2018.
Thus, it is likely that “Big Hero 7” will come out to theaters in 2019 at the earliest, with 2020 being the farthest release date.
However, these remain as speculations pending the confirmation from Marvel Studios or Disney Pictures or both.
‘Big Hero 6’ TV series
While fans of Hiro Hamada, Baymax and the rest of the “Big Hero 6” team are already anticipating the sequel to the 2014 hit animated movie, it seems to have been overtaken by plans to launch a “Big Hero 6” TV series on Disney Channel sometime next year.
However, the plan of Disney did not lessen the excitement and anticipation of fans on “Big Hero 7” notwithstanding that it had been making the rounds on the internet since early last year.
The new animated TV series shall be produced by “Kim Possible” creators Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, together with Nicholas Filippi as supervising director.
Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, express excitement on the possibility that “Big Hero 6” will make a huge stomp in the programming of Disney Channel.
He said that their colleagues at Walt Disney Animation Studios have created a brilliant new world, inspired by Marvel, with vivid and unique characters. He added that they are thrilled to be given the opportunity to further develop the “Big Hero 6” characters in the world-class animated series, reports Variety.
Marsh also guaranteed Disney Channel viewers that the TV series will be full of fun, action, and the kind of endearing storytelling that only, Mark, Bob, and Baymax can deliver.
As far as storyline for the TV series, reports have it that “Big Hero 6” on the small screen shall continue the story where the movie left off which means it shall follow the adventures of Hiro and his friends leading ordinary lives of university students by day and superhero during their off-hours.
Critics believe that the “Big Hero 6” TV series will do wonders for “Big Hero 7” in terms of promotions but one thing it made clear is that the sequel movie shall not hit theaters next year.
The return of Tadashi
In addition, “Big Hero 7” will certainly have a time jump in its plotline since “Big Hero 6” the TV series will pick up where the “Big Hero 6” movie left off. The time jump would become necessary to ensure continuity in the storyline.
It would be interesting to find out if “Big Hero 6” the TV series will dwell on the resurrection of Tadashi Hamada, Hiro’s brother, who shall reportedly become the villain Sunfire, notes Sportsrageous.
