Coldplay has been officially confirmed to headline the Super Bowl 2016 Halftime Show slated on February 7 to be held at the Levi’s Stadium in Sta. Clara, California.
The newly-built stadium is the home of the San Francisco 49ers and shall also be the venue of the Super Bowl 50, less than two weeks from now.
While the British rock band has more than enough firepower in its music arsenal to keep the crowd on its feet, Coldplay is bringing in some major reinforcement in Beyonce to ensure that they can match if not outperform Katy Perry’s superb performance delivery last year.
Chris Martin, Coldplay frontman, said that their performance on February 7 will echo the elements of the NFL’s “On the Fifty” campaign by honoring the past, the present, and looking ahead to the next 50 years of the league, cites CBS Sports.
Martin added that their upcoming Super Bowl 2016 Halftime Show is the greatest moment in their band’s life so they are going to give it everything they have.
Coldplay is one of the most successful and critically-acclaimed bands of all time. It has won seven Grammy Awards and sold more than 80 million records worldwide so the British rock band has been into a lot of big stages in the past.
The band is best known for its songs like “Yellow,” “Fix You,” and “Viva La Vida.”
A continuation of a collaboration
The guesting of Beyonce on Coldplay’s Super Bowl 2016 Halftime Show is actually a continuation of the collaboration between the pop diva and the rock band.
Beyonce and Coldplay have recently collaborated on a pair of songs titled “Hymn for the Weekend” and “Up and Up” for Coldplay’s new album “A Head Full of Dreams” and it is likely that at least one of those songs will be played during the Super Bowl 2016 Halftime Show slated on February 7.
Before Katy Perry’s performance last year, Beyonce electrified the Super Bowl crowd when she performed during the Super Bowl 2013 Halftime Show. It was a tough act to follow but Katy Perry managed to put up a good show by leaving an imprint all her own.
Coldplay will officially join the long list of iconic rock bands that have previously performed during the Super Bowl Halftime Show in the last 50 years including U2, Rolling Stones, The E Street Band, The Heartbreakers, and several others.
A death threat
Meanwhile, Beyonce reportedly received another terrifying threat on her life after a man posted a chilling message on social media early this week.
Apparently, the Instagram account of Tina Lawson, Beyonce’s mother, received a comment from one of her followers that said that he is going to assassinate her daughter and that he could only imagine what her daughter’s blood smells like.
It was not clear if the anonymous Instagram user was making the threat on Beyonce or her sister but from the way he sounded on his post, it seems like he was eyeing Beyonce.
A concerned fan and friend of the family immediately warned the troll that he has reported the death threat to the FBI and that the anonymous user should not be too cocky that just because he was posting anonymously, he cannot be identified by the authorities.
Tina supported the concerned fan and also confirmed that she has reported the troll to the FBI. Beyonce’s mother said that the man just threatened murder and sexual assault in a public forum and is obviously a sick cowardly uneducated racist pervert, reports Citizen Digital.
A third fan also told Tina that she has reported the man like a billion times because those kinds of people are so selfish and stupid to even want to harm innocent people and innocent families. She said that she will keep reporting the man until the day she dies.
The FBI is now investigating the matter but the user has since deleted his Instagram account.
