Music diva Beyonce showcased her Southern roots at the 50th Annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards on November 2 by performing the track “Daddy Lessons” from her “Lemonade” album along with Dixie Chicks.
Just like Beyonce, Dixie Chicks have been criticized by conservatives for adding political overtones in their occasional performances, notes CNN.
The appearance of Beyonce at the CMA stage this year follows the participation in the event of Justin Timberlake last year as he performed with Southern rock and country star Chris Stapleton.
Beyonce is from Texas while Timberlake is from Memphis, Tennessee and they both have their country music roots to show for.
While Queen Bey’s appearance in the event was supposed to be a surprise, but it seems that the cat got out of the bag early when she was spotted the day before around Nashville. Beyonce joined a throng of performing country music stars at the 50th CMA Awards including Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Kacey Musgraves, and many others.
Garth Brooks was adjudged as the Entertainer of the Year while Chris Stapleton was named as Male Vocalist of the Year. Carrie Underwood won as the Female Vocalist of the Year while Dann Huff was honored as the Musician of the Year.
There were 10 other awards that were handed out during the event.
Taking over from Dolly Parton?
The performance of Beyonce at the 50th CMA Awards has joined the music diva’s string of iconic award show performances this year, making other performers look like amateurs.
In fact, some critics are saying that her presence on the CMA stage alone made her a contender or the next-in-line to country music iconic diva Dolly Parton as the “Single Ladies” singer slays the event and the crowd big time, notes The Daily Beast.
Some regard Beyonce as a fame monster and once she decides to take on a challenge, there is hardly anybody who can stop her.
Her delivery of “Daddy Lessons,” a song about a gun-toting, whiskey-drinking father and the little girl who loves him, was just surreal. She made people realized that “Daddy Lessons” was the fiddle-infused track in “Lemonade” they never knew they needed.
The CMA event became the perfect opportunity to showcase Queen Bey’s first foray into the glamorous world of cowboy hats, cowboys, and country music. And she came out of it, as expected, with flying colors.
Typical of her, Beyoncé held everyone in the palm of her hands with her performance that even allegations of political color on her performances seemed to have been drowned by her great talent.
A flawless performance yet again
No one does it better than Queen Bey and she delivered yet again a flawless performance at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans late in September as part of her Formation World Tour.
Just like her previous concert performances, the show was typically Beyonce as it was heavily-orchestrated, glittering with couture costumes, writhing with fit dancers moving in unison, and highlighted by occasional bursts of fireworks.
She has been on the road for the last seven months traveling the world for her sell out Formation World Tour and on the final stretch, she appears to have the energy to keep going for many more months.
Beyonce looked and performed incredibly well during her latest performance that had the crowd in the palm of her hands just like the many shows before it.
Queen Bey flaunted her gorgeous figure in tiny gold two-piece and she was performing with shapely dancers her catalog of chart-topping hits.
At 35 years old, and the mother of one, Beyonce still has plenty of gas left in her tank and showed girls how to rule the world with her killer curves that she squeezed into a sequinned gold cropped top and pants.
She really proved to everyone that she is deserving of every inch of her music superstar status that no other in the current generation can or is daring to match.
