‘Better Call Saul’ Season 3 Bob Odenkirk Confirms Appearance of Drug Kingpin Gus Fring!

The first letter of the 10 episodes of Season 2 of the American crime drama TV series “Better Call Saul” on AMC spelled out FRINGSBACK. When scrambled and punctuated to make a phrase, it actually reads ‘Fring’s Back.’

Thus, it became clear to fans of the hit show that Gus Fring, the drug kingpin and chicken store owner in the parent series “Breaking Bad,” shall be showing up in Season 3 of “Better Call Saul.”

The role is to be played again by Giancarlo Esposito, who did an excellent job with the character back in the antecedent “Breaking Bad.”

It was supposed to be speculations even up to early this week but lead star Bob Odenkirk practically confirmed it during his recent guesting at “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on August 24.

While the actor did not say it directly, Odenkirk said that a “Breaking Bad” villain shall make an appearance in Season 3 of “Better Call Saul.”

Odenkirk said that his character Jimmy McGill is looking for the character and he will indeed be coming back. He also joked that now that the cat’s out of the bag, he said that the character will be in the first moment so it’s time to go, reports Time.

Still rooting for Walter White to appear

Despite confirmation from actor Bryan Cranston that his “Breaking Bad” character Walter White will not appear in Season 3 of “Better Call Saul” as he will just be directing an episode, fans are still hoping that his character would somehow find a way.

The 60-year-old actor said that he does not know the context or how the idea would work because the characters were actually in different phases.

He explained that the characters did not meet until the second season of “Breaking Bad” when Walter White needed to meet Saul Goodman.

Cranston supposes that White and Goodman could have a serendipitous brush of each other down the street or in the market but he does not know what good will that do because it is just a little cookie, notes Mobile & Apps.

He also confirmed that he is looking forward to going to the production of the TV series soon to direct an episode. He considers the people behind “Better Call Saul” as a family. The actor said that the production team still has the same crew and he would find it exciting to rekindle the flame and that it is still very much alive.

Debating in his thoughts about the offer

The veteran actor has previously stated that he was indeed offered a directorial job for “Better Call Saul” Season 3.

He explained that he would have an opportunity to direct an episode of “Better Call Saul” but he is debating in his thoughts whether he would accept it or not because he is a fan of the show. He cited that in order to direct an episode of “Better Call Saul,” he would have to know something that no fan of the show knows.

Cranston shared that he needs to go back and the producers and showrunners would tell him what is going to happen leading up to the episode. He added that there is a part of him that would say it would kind of kill the excitement for him being a fan of the TV series himself.

Cranston said that he has already considered about becoming a full-time cast member on “Better Call Saul” because he owes it to Vince Gilligan, citing the showrunner as his champion to be able to land the Walter White role.

If Vince and Peter Gould, the other showrunner, would call him and ask him to do something for them, they don’t have to finish the pitch because he is already there and would be ready to do whatever they ask him to do.

Better Call Saul Season 2

“Better Call Saul” Season 3 is expected to return to the small screen in February next year and even this early, fans and critics are already looking forward to the show and expecting to finally see the transformation of Jimmy McGill into Saul Goodman.

Meanwhile, Rhea Seehorn, who plays lawyer Kim Wexler and girlfriend of Jimmy McGill, in a recent interview said that because of the Season 2 finale, there is a lot of leeway with where the third season of “Better Call Saul” could go.
