Electronic Arts (EA), the publisher of the first-person shooter video game “Battlefield Hardline” developed by Visceral Games, pulled off a surprise by recently announcing the planned release of a free DLC to the highly-popular game.
“Battlefield Hardline” was actually released in the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC in March this year. Sometime in June, developer Visceral Games unravelled the game’s first ever DLC expansion pack titled “Criminal Activity.”
Visceral Games subsequently disclosed that “Criminal Activity” is the first of the four DLC expansion packs that it will be unveiling to gamers before the game turns one year in March next year.
Last month, the game developer officially rolled out the “Robbery” second DLC expansion pack, which added more fun and excitement to the already satisfied gamers of “Battlefield Hardline.”
Observing the DLC quarterly release pattern of Visceral Games, critics believe that the third expansion pack called “Getaway” would be released in December this year before the fourth and final DLC pack titled “Betrayal” arrives in March next year.
A jaw-dropper for gamers
All the four DLC expansion packs to “Battlefield Hardline” comes with a price of approximately a little below $15 each. Gamers who opted to purchase the Premium Pack which already includes all the four DLCs shelled out only $50. They just have to wait for the official release of the DLC over-the-air and they can download it right away on their gaming consoles and PC.
As if the excitement of the upcoming third and fourth DLC expansion packs are still not enough to keep gamers glued to the video game, EA practically dropped the jaws of gamers when it announced that an extra DLC called “Blackout” will soon be coming to the game. The even better news is that unlike the four scheduled DLC expansion packs, “Blackout” will come out free, details the Christian Post.
“Blackout” brings a nighttime combat theme to “Battlefield Hardline” and provides gamers with different settings, items, and other gameplay elements to make them truly enjoy the experience of nocturnal warfare.
The “Blackout” DLC pack shall include two new maps, called Night Job and Night Woods. But those new maps are not something where players would initially grope for form because they would be very familiar with it. Night Job is basically the night version of Bank Job while the Night Woods is the nocturnal rendition of Backwoods. But there will certainly be new elements that were not present in the daytime versions of the map, the Christian Today reports.
As expected, players will get night vision goggles to help them wade through the shadowy crevices of their dark surroundings. There will be two new key weapons in the free DLC too. The first weapon is a revamped version of the R0933 while the second weapon is the new Battle Rifle.
No release date yet
While EA has already announced and disclosed a good number of details regarding “Blackout,” the publisher has yet to mention its release date. This early, gamers of “Battle Hardline” are already getting excited and quite anxious about it.
“Blackout” brings to players of “Battlefield Hardline” new music, camouflages, positions and assignments, patches, and other stuff that normally comes with a cost but are already made free by the game developer. The free DLC is perhaps a way for both Visceral Games and EA to express their gratitude for the immense support and warm acceptance of fans and gamers on “Battlefield: Hardline.”
“Battlefield Hardline” continues to draw critical reception from both gamers and critics. In fact, when it was rolled out to the retail markets in the US in March, it came out as the best-selling video game in the country for that month, validating the rave reviews and praises that Visceral Games had gotten as a result of its work with “Battlefield Hardline.”
